The Girl Scout Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program helps girls develop leadership skills and prepare for careers as camp counselors. The program is designed for girls in grades 9–12.
CIT I: For girls entering grades 9–12, June 17 - 20, July 7-16
CIT II: For girls who have earned CIT I, June 17 - 20, July 7-16
Research shows that Girl Scout campers do better than their non-camper peers at leadership, teamwork, confidence, and perseverance. Girl Scouts who participate in our leadership programs receive even greater benefits. Regardless of your career aspirations, a camp leadership training program will enhance your resume and build skills for the future!
Girl Scouts begin with CIT I, where they learn the basics of camp operations and program development, which they later apply while working with younger girls. CIT II takes the learning to the next level, learning more about operations and programming, as well as selecting a specialty to focus on areas such as waterfront, archery, unit counselors, or administration. Girl Scouts can begin their CIT journey at any grade in high school and then earn CIT II following completion of CIT I.
