  • WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A DAY CAMP COUNSELOR?

    For high school volunteers, day camp is a unique experience meant to expose our staff to the challenges of full-time counseling while providing some hours off for rest, reflection, and mentoring. Our Day Camp Counselors work with K5-5th grade campers under the supervision of day camp directors. Senior staff work alongside Day Camp staff during the day and mentor day camp staff in the evening.

    Our Day Camp staff are challenged through a condensed week of fast-paced service working with K5-5th grade campers from 10 am to 5 pm. Evenings are spent serving as support staff for the rest of the camp through kitchen crew, grounds cleanup, and general maintenance. These five days of service prepare our Day Camp counselors for the round-the-clock work our senior staff are tasked with over our summer programs. Day camp is intended to be a stepping-stone position for high-school staff as they learn to take on the roles and responsibility of our full-time staff. In 2025, we have two separate day camp weeks: one for K5-3rd, and one for 3rd-5th grade.

    Our Day Camp staff experience the unique challenge of helping craft the schedule for their campers each day (under the supervision of senior staff). Day Camp counselors lead chapels, games, and other activities throughout the day with the support and supervision of senior staff. Our Day Camp program is uniquely structured to develop students as servant leaders characterized by humility, initiative, and a rock-solid work ethic.

    Day Camp Counselors also experience unique mentoring opportunities underneath senior counselors in individual chohorts. Free evenings on campus provides opportunities for fellowship, prayer, and teaching. Our Day Camp program provides opportunities for personal and spiritual growth throughout the five day week. Each Day Camp counselor is mentored under a senior counselor and spends their evenings learning the ins-and-outs of senior staff work. Extended training sessions and chapels continue to develop all staff into counselors equipped to handle any situation with wisdom and grace.

    This is not a paid role.

    WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE ON STREAM TEAM?

    The Stream Team helps with the day-to-day operations and activities of each camp and ensure that each day operates smoothly for all involved. Stream Team members participate in a variety of tasks and activities 'behind-the-scenes' that keep our facilities and grounds in great condition with each new group of campers and staff. Stream Team plays a vital role in making the camp experience an incredible adventure for those attending. Each week consists of a different team, making it one of the most flexible positions available to work during our summer programs- applicants may apply to work minimum one week of their choosing or longer, if desired.

    Stream Team support the counseling staff throughout the weeks by assisting in:

    • Meal prep & serving
    • Activity set-up, tear-down & clean-up
    • Facility upkeep and maintenance
    • Construction projects
    • Grounds upkeep
    • Worship through music
    • Sports activities & games
    • Electives (indoor & outdoor)
    • Bible teaching

    This is not a paid role.

    APPLICATION DEADLINES

    Junior staff applications are accepted on a rolling basis beginning January 1. Acceptances are first come, first served, opening to returning staff first and new staff on February 1. Individuals who complete the interview process, are accepted, and then fail to fulfill their obligations for reasons other than personal or family emergencies will be unable to apply for 1 year after initial application.

  • Elementary and Middle School are the weeks that require the most staff. You may be offered a different position or different week based on where we feel you can serve best.

  • Important Training Information

    Exceptions will only be made for out-of-state applicants who must make travel arrangements. Please contact the volunteer coordinator if you fall into this category.

  • Community Standards Agreement

    Read and sign to indicate agreement with all points.
  •  Each Staff member (either volunteer and paid) will be expected to uphold this Community Standards Agreement. The goal of life at Coldstream is to live, work, serve, and worship together as a community centered on the Lord Jesus Christ. It is intended that this agreement would be understood as a grace-filled standard for life together, and serve as a means of encouraging godly living, with integrity and with honor for one another as we grow as a community.

    The purposes of this agreement are:

    • To affirm our identity as a Christ-centered institution centered on biblical principles and a  devotion to Jesus Christ;
    • To affirm the integrity of our mission statement;
    • To affirm our unity as a camp community with shared values and a shared framework of grace and faith.

    As followers of Jesus Christ and recipients of His grace, we live out our faith on a daily basis. As broken persons, we acknowledge that we will do this imperfectly. As a community that values both individual and corporate maturity, we commit to that which will produce godly growth. In light of this, we commit to the following:

    • Show evidence of the Holy Spirit who lives within all believers, such as “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control;”
    • Seek righteousness, mercy, and justice;
    • Love and side with what is good in God’s eyes, and abhor what is evil in God’s eyes;
    • Uphold the God-given worth of every human being, from conception to death, as unique image-bearers of God;
    • Pursue unity and embrace ethnic and racial diversity as part of God’s design for humanity and practice reconciliation as one of His redemptive purposes in Christ;
    • Affirm chastity among the unmarried and the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman;
    • Be people of integrity whose word can be trusted;
    • Give faithful witness to the Gospel, practice good works toward all and live lives of prayer and thanksgiving.
    • To maintain fellowship with and attendance in a local church

    By contrast, even though God forgives people through his grace, we acknowledge that the Bible condemns certain behaviors, and we commit to avoid the following:

    • Pride

    • Immodesty in dress or behavior

    • Slander, gossip, vulgar language, blasphemy

    • Greed, covetousness, theft, and the taking of innocent life;

    • Self-righteousness, and legalism, understood as the imposition of extra-biblical standards of godliness by one person or group upon another;

    • Sinful attitudes and behaviors, such as impurity and debauchery;

    • Idolatry and witchcraft;

    • Hatred, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, envy

    • Drunkenness;

    • Sexual immorality, including the use of pornography and all other sexual behaviors the Bible reveals to be contrary to God’s loving design for humanity.

    I have read and will abide by this Community Standards Agreement. I understand the expectations asked of me and will fulfill them to the best of my ability. I understand that if the Coldstream Christian Camp Staff deems that I am unable to fulfill these responsibilities to the required standard, it may result in removal from my service at Coldstream.
