  • Each year NACUMS recognizes members who have contributed significantly to our association and/or industry and their individual institutions. Please consider the specific criteria for each award and carefully consider the person whom you feel is qualified to be recognized. Please provide detailed information about your nominee and how he or she meets the award's criteria. In the absence of qualified nominees, no award will be presented.

    Submission of this application indicates that the applicant meets the award criteria. If you have any questions regarding the awards process, don't hesitate to get in touch with NACUMS at info@nacums.org or call (877) NACUMS1. 

    This form can only be used for one award application per submission. You can either complete the form online or upload the official award document from the NACUMS website on this form. Uploading additional documents to support your nomination is encouraged. You must submit separate forms for each nomination you wish to be considered.   

    Disclaimer: The final award determination will be made by a Review Panel appointed by the Member Services committee.

  • Nomination Information:

    Please complete each section and provide detailed information about the nominee and how they meet the award's criteria. Nominations should be well-written, complete, and proofed for grammatical errors. The official awards program will publish submissions for individuals chosen for the awards. Please feel free to use as much space as needed to describe the attributes required to determine the award in detail. You are encouraged to contact the nominee to verify any information.

  • Lou Eichler Award of Excellence

    The Lou Eichler Award of Excellence is the highest honor bestowed by NACUMS and recognizes a lifetime of achievement in the professional field of college and university mailing services.  Named in honor of CUNIMAIL founder Lou Eichler, its first recipient, this award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated the highest levels of professional excellence and who has made contributions above and beyond the scope of their regular duties and responsibilities.

    Any candidate considered for this award must have significant accomplishments in college and university mailing that will have an impact on the industry for years to come.  Former NACUMS members who are retired but still made significant contributions to the industry may be considered.  If no qualified candidate is nominated, this category will have no award.

    The candidate who is considered for this award must meet all the following criteria:

    • Have made significant contributions in the college and university mailing industry as a whole beyond the boundaries of the individual’s college or university.
    • Have proven him or herself to be a leader among college and university mail service managers.
    • Have a minimum of 10 years of active involvement in the college and university mailing industry.

  • Industry Leadership Award

    This level of acknowledgment by NACUMS is presented for outstanding leadership and must extend beyond the boundaries of the individual’s college or university. The person nominated must be a NACUMS member in good standing and have made significant contributions to the mailing industry.

    Award Criteria:

  • Excellence In Management Award

    This award is for excellence in the management of an in-house mail operation that stands alone, or is combined with related services such as print, copy, courier, or receiving.

    Award Criteria:

    · The nominee must be a NACUMS member in good standing.
    · The nominee should have experience in management or supervision

  • Mail Center of the Year

    The NACUMS MAIL CENTER OF THE YEAR AWARD is established by the NACUMS Board to recognize any organization for outstanding contribution(s) to their institution and the profession. This award considers accomplishments made by the Mail Center throughout the past year but is not limited specifically to that period. Projects can entail years of planning before execution, and all activities leading up to a major accomplishment are to be provided for review. The recipient of this award is recognized by their peers who deem them worthy of being honored for their institution's professional accomplishments and for sharing their experiences with other member institutions. Any member can make nominations for this award for any other member by completing an application. Member schools may self-nominate.

    Award Criteria:

    · The nominee must be a member in good standing with NACUMS and current in dues payment.

  • Outstanding Team Member

    This award recognizes a person who is not the direct manager/director of a mail center, but has gone beyond his or her normal work duties and has been an example for others to follow. This person made a major impact in their mail center that is significant and noteworthy of a national award.

    Award Criteria:

    · Nominees of this award do not have to be listed as a NACUMS member, but the manager/director of the person must be an active member.

  • Barry Gauthier Volunteer Award

    The Barry Gauthier Volunteer Award was developed to honor Barry for making significant contributions to NACUMS through his time, actions, talents, and dedication. Mr. Gauthier was a selfless person. As a volunteer, he would donate his time whether he was a Board Member or an active committee member. He needed no accolades or reason to volunteer; all he needed to know was that his assistance was needed. The honoree selected for this award should exemplify what Barry stood for and serve as a role model for other NACUMS Members.

     Award Criteria:

    • NACUMS Member Schools in good standing with the organization unless otherwise stated in the description.
    • Nominee must not have won this award previously.
    • Nominee should have at least 5 years of volunteer involvement with NACUMS.
    • Nominations that do not meet these criteria may be held for later consideration.
    • All volunteer activities of the Nominee must be unpaid; however, nominees who receive a nominal stipend for their service (such as reimbursement of expenses) may be eligible.

  • John Wargo Mail Industry Partnership Award

    The basis of this award is to recognize and memorialize the support and assistance of John Wargo in helping the college and university mail services gain recognition as an important industry with the United States and one that was an important and integral partner with the US Postal Service. John’s effort and support was critical to helping NACUMS come into being and to grow into the strong industry organization that it is today.

    This award will recognize individuals or organizations who have aided in the advancement of the NACUMS organization. This could include, but is not to be limited to, service improvements, technology advances, special projects and educational efforts as well as other areas related to college and university mail.

    Due to the special nature of the award the honoree(s) would be selected by the NACUMS Board of Directors. The award would be presented annually if the directors feel that there is/are a worthy project/candidate(s) to recognize.
