Ascend Federal Credit Union presents the MTSU Arts Outstanding Student Award, an annual selection of students from the MTSU College of Liberal Arts' Departments of Art and Design, Theatre and Dance, and the School of Music.

The Outstanding Student Award is given to Art/Design, Theatre and Dance, and Music Majors who show potential for excellence in their chosen professions and contribute to the development of the artistic community at MTSU.
The Selection of the student representing Art and Design is determined by its Chair in mid-September each Fall Semester. Interested students are encouraged to complete this form to nominate themselves for consideration.
Awarded: Fall Semester, Deadline: Tuesday, September 2, 2025
Eligibility Criteria:
Must be a student in the College of Liberal Arts at MTSU.
Demonstrates outstanding academic achievement.
Show significant involvement in arts-related activities.
Exhibit leadership qualities and community engagement.
Application Requirements:
I. Personal Information:
Provide your full name, student ID, major, year of study, and contact information. This helps us identify and contact you. Bio.
II. Academic Achievement:
Share your current GPA and list relevant coursework with grades. This section highlights your dedication and success in your studies.
III. Arts Involvement:
Describe your participation in arts-related activities and projects and any awards or recognitions you have received. This showcases your engagement and accomplishments in the arts.
IV. Leadership and Community Engagement:
Provide examples of leadership roles you have taken on and your involvement in community service or volunteer work. This section emphasizes your leadership qualities and commitment to community service.
V. Personal Statement:
Write a brief essay (500 words) reflecting on how your involvement in the arts has impacted your academic and personal growth. This provides insight into your journey and passion for the arts.
VI. Letters of Recommendation:
Include two letters of recommendation from faculty members or mentors who can discuss your qualifications and achievements.
VII. Portfolio:
Submit a portfolio of your work demonstrating your skills and accomplishments in the arts.
VIII. Resume:
Provide a resume outlining your academic and extracurricular activities, work experience, and other relevant information.
IX. Transcript:
Attach an official transcript that includes your current and past academic performance
X. Interview:
Be prepared to participate in an interview with the selection committee if shortlisted.
XI. Additional Information:
Include any additional information that you believe is relevant to your application.
Selection Process: Students are encouraged to complete the application, with the final selection made through a survey of Art and Design faculty and designated by the Chair of Art and Design. Once selected, the nominee represents the Department for the MTSU College of Liberal Arts selection of an Outstanding Student of CLA.
