Toowoon Bay SLSC is seeking club members' interested in completing the IRB Crew award. Course is likely to start at the end of February, depending on intererst.
AWARD SUMMARY
The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively crew an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations.

This unit is part of the PUA30319 Certificate III in Public Safety (Aquatic Search and Rescue).ient in Bronze Medallion
PREREQUISITES:
Candidates must meet ALL of the following conditions:
- Be at least 15 yrs on the date of final assessment
- Be currently proficient in Bronze Medallion
- Be a current financial member of an SLSC
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of an IRB Crewperson
- List the duties of an IRB Crewperson
- List the safety considerations when crewing and IRB
- List the different classes of IRB's
- Crew an IRB
- Prepare the components of an IRB and auxiliary equipment
- Contribute to the safe and efficient launching of an IRB
- Demonstrate safe crewing positions while negotiating the surf
- Identify hazards and rists and clearly communicate them to the driver
- Perform rescues, including conscious and unconscious casualty pick-ups
- Perform emergency procedures
- Maintain an IRB
- Perform pre-operational checks and preventative maintenance of the IRB hull and auxiliary equipment
- Perform post-operational maintenance of the IRB hull and auxiliary equipment
- Complete organisational documentation as required, including reporting major equipment wear or damage or personal injury
PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS
For this award to remain current candidates must perform an annual proficiency check, or as needed /
requested.
