  • Greetings, sinners!

Thanks for your interest so far in Oh My God: A Comedy Of Biblical Proportions presented by Popular Playhouse, coming to Marrickville's Flight Path Theatre this October as part of their 2026 programme. This raccous sketch parody of the Old Testament has been playfully coined a "prequel" to our previous "Comedy of Biblical Proportions" Christ Almighty which ran at Flight Path last year; hailed by critics as "One hell of a good time" (Sydney Arts Guide) and "A bold, irreverent and joyous revelation".

We are currently on the lookout for actors to bring a stable of biblical icons to life in this upcoming production and will be holding in-person auditions between Saturday , Sunday (10am - 2pm) and Monday (6pm - 9pm) at .

For your audition, please prepare a 1-2 minute comedic monologue. While the show isn't technically a musical, we also ask that everybody prepare a short song to sing - even just sixteen bars of something. We've included script excerpts to give you a taste of the show and its tone. Please note, these are not the audition sides - they'll be provided on the day.

Oh My God will be performed Wednesday - Sunday nights with a Saturday matinee from October 15th - 31st, with 12th - 14th of October dedicated to tech. All cast will be expected to attend roughly 1-3 rehearsals a week from mid-July to mid-October, with a three-week hiatus in mid-September – at a TBC Inner West/lower North shore location. Payment for all cast exists via a profit-share arrangement. Contracts will be provided by Popular Playhouse.

In casting this show, we hope to reflect the diversity of Australia today. As such, we encourage people from a broad range of backgrounds to apply, including BIPOC, First Nations, and LGBTQI+.

We acknowledge the First Nations people of the Eora Nation, on whose land we work and create.

  • BLURB:

Popular Playhouse returns to Flight Path Theatre after smash-hit runs of Turpentine and Christ Almighty in 2025 - with another outrageous bible spoof comedy!!

Moving in with your estranged father can be awkward at the best of times, not least when he’s the all-powerful creator of the universe. Recently crucified and stuck in heaven, Jesus decides he and God need to break the ice with a leisurely scroll through the big man’s biography – a.k.a the Old Testament.

Will Adam join Eve on her wild hunt beyond the garden, or remain a soy-boy forever? Will Noah become the shipwright he was born to be and save his marriage from a watery disaster? Can Moses save the Jews from slavery and lead them to the Promised Land, or will his sinuses undo him?

From forbidden fruit to incinerated cities, this sketch parody from the team behind Christ Almighty (Seymour Centre 2023, Flight Path 2025) promises to be a riotous night out where humanities shortcomings are put under the cosmic microscope with hilarious, earth-shattering results.
