1- AILA FUTURE LEADER STUDENT AWARD
This award recognises achievement in design, planning, communications, and research that is based upon the development of innovative, creative and practical solutions to landscape architectural challenges.
Submissions shall comprise work undertaken as part of formal studies in an Australian landscape architecture course and/or activities and initiatives undertaken while enrolled in the course.
The applicant is to be nominated by a program or subject coordinator of the landscape architecture course. The student must be a student member of AILA. Please note: this category in not available in Qld in 2025.
2 - AILA FUTURE LEADER GRADUATE AWARD
This award recognises achievement in design, planning, communications and research that is based upon the development of innovative, creative and practical solutions to landscape architectural challenges.
The submission is to be nominated by a current or former employer. The entrant must be a graduate member of AILA and must have graduated from an Australian landscape architectural course no more than five years previously.
3 - JUDGING CRITERIA
Entries will be assessed in terms of demonstrated and recognised outstanding achievement, which may include the following:
- Demonstrated professional practice excellence; through innovation, superior communications skills, project management or leadership.
- Projects or equivalent initiatives that demonstrate the possibility of providingfuture leadership to the profession.
- Activities or projects that raise the profile and understanding of the profession
- Leadership and initiatives that address the profession's priorities such as those outlined in the Charter for Australian Landscape Architects.
- A demonstrated enthusiasm, interest, and involvement in the profession of landscape architecture and an understanding of how it might relate to the wider community currently and in the future.
Judging will be undertaken by a jury determined by the local AILA Chapter to avoid conflicts with nominees. The jury may include representatives of the 2025 Landscape Architecture Awards Jury, local Chapter Executive or AILA Members. Future Leader winners will be announced at the 2025 Chapter Announcements in May-June 2025.
4 - SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Each submission for Future Leaders Awards is to be supplied via this Jotform and includes:
- Completed Future Leaders Award Submission Form (this form)
- A PDF document (maximum of five pages) outlining the outstanding work undertaken by the individual demonstrating their achivements against the judging criteria
- A signed statement from the Nominator about the Student/Graduate
- A profile/headshot image of the nominee for promotional purposes
- Optional: Any other information that may assist the jury in their decision
- Optional: Up to eight images as JPEG files including both Hi and Low Resolution
Note: There are no National Future Leaders Awards. No entry fee is required for Future Leaders Awards submissions.
