  • Application Instructions

  • Diamond Lakes Federal Credit Union is committed to supporting students in their pursuit of higher education. All scholarship recipients must be a member of Diamond Lakes or have an immediate family member that belongs to the credit union.

    There will be four recipients, each receiving a $2,000 scholarship, with two scholarships awarded to high school seniors and two to college undergraduates.

    All completed applications must be submitted by March 31, 2025.

  • Eligibility Criteria

    • Scholarship recipient must be a member of Diamond Lakes or have an immediate family member that belongs to the credit union.
    • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
    • Must be a high school senior planning to attend a two-year or four-year trade school/college/university OR a college undergraduate currently enrolled at a two-year or four-year trade/college/university.
    • Applicants may submit a 500-700 word essay on one of the provided topics OR submit a video submission (3-5 mins) on one of the provided video topics. Submission topics are listed below.
    • Must submit two recommendation letters from a teacher, professor, counselor, or employer.

    • What inspired you to choose your intended college major or career path, and how do you plan to make a positive impact in your chosen field?

    The Power of Financial Responsibility:

    • Why is financial literacy important for young adults, and how do you plan to manage your finances effectively as a college student?

    Making a Difference:

    • Describe a time when you took the initiative to help someone or improve your community. What did you learn from the experience, and how will it shape your future?
  • Essay Topics for College Undergraduates:

    Financial Growth & Independence:

    • How has your understanding of financial literacy evolved in college, and how do you plan to apply this knowledge to achieve financial stability after graduation?

    Overcoming Adversity:

    • Describe a significant challenge you have faced during your college journey and how it has shaped your academic or career aspirations?

    Community Engagement & Leadership:

    • In what ways have you contributed to your college or local community, and how do you plan to continue making an impact after graduation?

  • How My Education Will Impact My Community

    • Share how your chosen field of study or career path will positively contribute to your community. Discuss issues you hope to address, community projects you would like to initiate and how you plan to give back after graduation.

    Overcoming Challenges: My Journey to Success

    • Share a personal story of resilience, highlighting the obstacles you've had to face and how those experiences shaped your educational goals. For trade school students, this could include your motivation for pursuing a specialized skill and how it will lead to future opportunities.

    The Future I'm Building: My Vision and Goals

    • Outline your goals both professional and personal, and explain how receiving the scholarship will help you achieve your aspirations. You can include insights on the broad impact that you hope to make in your industry or society, showcasing ambition and forward thinking.

    Provide two recommendation letters from any of the following:
