  • The Catalyst Summer Development Program is designed for part-time employees to gain practical, hands-on expereince within Preiss. By working with various department teams, participants will be able to learn and develop skills and best practices while also networking with assigned mentors that have years of industry and company experience. The word catalyst represents the transformation and impact that the program will have on its partcipants.

  • The Asset Management Department drives the financial and operational performance of the company’s student housing portfolio, partnering closely with operations, finance, and leadership to maximize asset value. Participants will work alongside the asset management team on portfolio analytics, loan document review, site visits, and cross-functional initiatives that address real business challenges and inform strategic decision-making. This opportunity provides hands-on exposure to complex problem solving, with the flexibility to dive deeper into projects that align with individual interests.

    The Human Resources Department offers an opportunity for individuals who want hands-on experience at the intersection of people, policy, and performance. Participants will collaborate with the HR team on initiatives related to talent acquisition, onboarding, employee engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion across a dynamic student housing portfolio. This role is ideal for those eager to take on meaningful responsibility, gain insight into how high-performing teams are built and supported, and understand how investing in people drives success at every level of the organization.

    IRIS Technologies is offering an internship opportunity in enterprise sales or product management for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of technology, real estate, and innovation. Interns will work alongside senior leaders on real client engagements, go-to-market strategy, and product initiatives shaping the future of multifamily and student housing. This is a high-impact role designed for self-starters who want real responsibility, exposure, and the chance to help scale a fast-growing technology consulting firm.

    The Strategic Partnership team is offering an opportunity for participants who want experience supporting the development and execution of high-impact partnerships that fuel growth across our multifamily and student housing portfolio. Participants will work to help identify, evaluate, and strengthen relationships with capital partners that expand bed count and assets under management. Throughout the program, participants may join virtual and in-person meetings with existing and prospective partners while contributing to business plans, budgets, and opportunity evaluations. This high-visibility role is ideal for self-starters eager to take on meaningful responsibility, gain exposure to how new ventures are assessed and structured, and learn how strong partnerships translate into long-term value for ownership groups.

    The Operations Department is offering an opportunity for participants who want hands-on experience at the core of student housing performance, team leadership, and the resident journey. Participants will work on company-side operational initiatives, performance analysis, and strategic projects that directly impact our portfolio. This role is designed for those ready for broad exposure to how our communities operate and a behind-the-scenes look at how strong execution creates exceptional living experiences for residents.

    The Digital Marketing team is offering a summer opportunity for Catalyst participants who want hands-on experience shaping how our communities are discovered, experienced, and chosen. Participants will collaborate with marketing and operational leaders on campaigns, content strategy, advertising performance, and brand initiatives that drive traffic and leasing results across our student housing portfolio. From analyzing data to supporting creative execution, participants will contribute to real projects that influence how we reach and engage future residents.  

    The Construction Management team is offering an opportunity to gain exposure to how physical improvements and financial strategy come together to enhance community performance. Participants will experience renovation planning, project coordination, vendor collaboration, and site-level execution across the student housing portfolio. In addition to field experience, participants will gain insight into the financial side of capital projects, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and return analysis.  

    The Training & Development team is offering an opportunity for participants who are passionate about helping people grow and succeed. Participants will collaborate on the design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs that support employees across our portfolio. From helping to build resources to assisting with workshops and tracking participation and outcomes, participants will contribute to initiatives that strengthen skills and elevate performance. This role is ideal for self-starters eager to take on meaningful responsibility, gain exposure to how learning strategies are built, and see how investing in development creates stronger teams and better results across the organization.

  • Program Expectations & Guidelines

  • General Conduct

    • Maintain professional behavior at all times.
    • Follow company policies, including dress code and workplace etiquette.
    • Do not disclose sensitive company information.
    • Refrain from any form of harassment, discrimination, or misconduct

    Attendance & Work Hours

    • Program runs from May 11 - July 17
    • Work schedule is 40 hours/week with the exception of comapny observed holidays or closures. 
    • Any time off requests need to be approved by the Program Director. 

    Housing

    • Housing will be a co-ed environment
    • Unit will be furnished
    • Each person will have their own bedroom in a shared living space. Participants may be required to share a bathroom.
    • Participants must ahdere to the apartment community's rules and guidelines

    Compensation

    • Pay will be a minimum of $18/hour
    • No bonuses are available as a part of the program. However, there may be opportunities to earn bonuses that arise based on potential job duties. 

    Travel and Logistics

    • Company will cover round trip travel expense to and from Raleigh at the start and end of the program.
    • Participants are able to bring their own vehicle to use during the program. There will be no mileage or gas reimbursement during the program. 
    • If a participant does not bring their own vehicle, they will be granted access to the company Uber account. Participants will have a set usage amount that will be covered by the company. 
    • Participants will need to pay for their own living expenses (food, social activities, etc.) during the program. 
    • Any non-work related travel will be at the participant's expense (i.e. traveling home on a weekend)
