  • WHO WE ARE
    Leadership Tallahassee (LT) is a program of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce. LT cultivates a diverse network of emerging and experienced leaders committed to improving the community. With the support of LT graduates and the community, LT has conducted leadership programs since 1983 and has over 2,000 graduates.

    BENEFITS

    • Develop an awareness/participate in discussions on challenges and opportunities in the community by examining major relevant business, government, and social issues.

    CURRICULUM
    The program begins with orientation in June, followed by a retreat in July, continues with monthly sessions and a closing retreat in April. The sessions present activities and in-person experiences related to community leadership, e.g., economic development, the arts, healthcare, human services, the environment, education, law enforcement and justice.

     

    PROGRAM COMMITMENT

    • Have full support of sponsoring business/organization.
    • Give the time necessary to complete the program.
    • Maintain a personal commitment to Leadership Tallahassee after graduation.

  • TIME COMMITMENT
    After Orientation, participants spend approximately 125 hours in the program from August to May. Attendance for the full duration of the overnight Opening Retreat (August 1 & August 2), including bus ride to/from location, is mandatory.

    Participants attend monthly program days, participate in a community arts experience/event, volunteer for one LT or LT partner program/event (specifics to be shared later), attend a school board, city or county commission meeting, and participate in a class project.

  • TUITION – SCHOLARSHIPS – PAYMENT PLANS

    • Tuition for Leadership Tallahassee is $3,500, or $3,250 for Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce members. Cash, check, or credit card accepted. Tuition payment plans are available.
    • Partial scholarships are offered, and those requests are encouraged. The LT Board is committed to providing scholarship assistance. Requests are submitted with the LT Class application.
    • Alumni dues of $150 per person are presented by each new graduate at the Class Graduation on May 7, 2026.
    • Tuition is due July 31, 2025, unless participant receives scholarship assistance or is approved for a payment plan.
    • The LT Board of Governors encourages need-based scholarship requests. Only partial scholarships are awarded, and requests must be made on the scholarship application form and submitted with the LT application. In addition, a payment plan for tuition (for up to 10 months with the final payment due May 2026) may be arranged after selection.
    • Note that failure to pay tuition or remain up-to-date on an approved payment plan will result in removal from the class.

     

    APPLICATION PROCESS

    Participants are selected on their own merit from applications submitted to the Leadership Tallahassee Selection Committee. Your application is the primary basis for our selection decision - take time to share your story and experiences thoughtfully.
    Applications are due April 7, 2025, with a $50 non-refundable application fee.
    Applicants are notified of the decision in June.

    Leadership Tallahassee seeks those candidates who:

    • Demonstrate leadership attributes through career achievement or participation in community activities
    • Represent a cross-section from businesses, government, and non-profit organizations
    • Reside in Tallahassee or the surrounding region
    • Identify and analyze challenges considering various perspectives, then provide solutions
    • Share personal/professional resources/expertise
    • Value continuous learning and personal professional development

    Please follow these instructions carefully. Your application is the sole basis for consideration by the Selection Committee.

    Selection for Leadership Tallahassee is competitive, and the Selection Committee reviews each application thoroughly to identify candidates that meet the selection criteria listed above. With this in mind, please:

    • Complete each section accurately and completely.

    • Be thorough and thoughtful in your responses. Your application serves as the sole basis for selection. We are looking to get to know who you are and how your unique perspective could add to the dynamic alongside other members of the class.

    • Pay the $50 non-refundable application fee. To make credit card payments, use the PayPal portal at the end of the electronic application or contact slove@talchamber.com. Checks should be payable to Leadership Tallahassee and mailed to: Leadership Tallahassee, PO Box 1639, Tallahassee, FL 32302.

    • Submit one letter of recommendation with your application. It may be emailed separately from application to slove@talchamber.com.

    • This application must be signed by the candidate and employer (if applicable) and received no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 07, 2025. All applicants will be notified in June 2025.

    To graduate from LEADERSHIP TALLAHASSEE CLASS 43, a participant is expected to attend ALL sessions.

    I understand the requirements of the LEADERSHIP TALLAHASSEE CLASS 43 as outlined in the Fact Sheet and, if I am selected, I will devote the time and resources necessary to complete the class program and become an active member of the alumni group after graduation.
