OBJECTIVES
The club meets weekly on Wednesdays from 5:15 pm to 7pm at the Function Room of the Bean There Restaurant located in the Ballito Hills Estate Club House – turn right at the traffic circle after you drive into the Estate. Contact 072 737 5281 to get a code. The objectives of the Club include:
- Providing a comfortable venue in which players can meet up for weekly games.
- Incentivising high rated players to become members so we can improve the level of chess in our Club.
- Welcoming players of all ages and levels to join.
- Facilitating more tournaments for North Coast players in Ballito
- Ensuring our members are informed about all chess tournaments being played in our district, nationally and internationally.
- Facilitating inter-club tournaments with other clubs.
- Giving a voice to members at district (Ilembe) and provincial (KZN) levels

Free entry into Standard Rated Swiss tournaments (Run over 6 weeks each term). All Switz Tournaments are ChessSA rated. FIDE rules and regulations will apply. Tie Breaks based on Direct Encounter, Buchholz and Sonneborn-Berger

Free entry into three One Day Tournament per term eg Blitz, Atomic, Doubles, King of the Hill, Chess 960 and Bughouse. Fun Chess prizes awarded at all One-Day Tournaments. Blitz Tournaments are rated.

Big Prize Money! 60% of all membership subscriptions (net expenses) will be a paid out in prizes with a guaranteed minimum of R2,500 in prizes per term.

CLUB RULES (MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES)
As a member of the Club you must agree to follow all Club Rules, as below and as may be updated from time to time. These include the responsibility to:
- Agree that your children attend the Club at their own risk. There is NO supervision of junior players outside of those busy playing chess inside the Function Room.
- Ensure you and your children follow our philosophy of fair play, honesty and good sportsmanship both within this group and at all chess events, which includes NO MATCH FIXING (no pre-arranged draws!);
- Follow the Rules of the Ballito Hills Estate and Bean There Restaurant which include: Access is to the Restaurant only; No access is allowed in other areas of the Club house (such as the pools, gym and courts); No food or drinks to be brought into the Restaurant;
- Support the Bean There Restaurant as much as you can, by buying food and drinks from them. They are not charging us any rental in return for us supporting the restaurant!;
- Try and assist in the Club’s Social Outreach programmes wherever possible;
- Support the Club where you can – whether with your time, your skills or with funding;
- Spread the word about the Club to try and attract new members to make the Club more successful.

6Arbiter Fees must be approved and paid by the applicant. The club will reimburse the fees when they become an Arbiter, up to R750. The applicant must agree to assist the NCCC as an Arbiter for 12 months after the course.
