THIS PERMIT MAY BE CANCELLED AT ANY TIME. NO DAY TIME BURNING.
Timing Restrictions:
Open air burning is not allowed between 2 hours after sunrise and 2 hours before sunset from April 1 to October 31.
Supervision and Extinguishment:
Fires must be controlled, supervised at all times, and fully extinguished before leaving the burn site.
Size and Location Requirements:
Open air burning devices must:
- Be less than 1 metre (3.2 feet) in diameter and 1 metre high.
- Be made of non-combustible material.
- Outdoor fire pits must be less than 0.6 metres (24 inches) in any direction.
- Fires must be at least 5 metres (16.4 feet) from buildings or combustible materials.
Materials Allowed for Burning:
Only dry, woody materials like wood, tree limbs, or branches may be burned. Burning of the following is prohibited: Household garbage, Construction materials, Rubber, plastic, tar, treated wood, or any material emitting noxious or poisonous substances.
Other Restrictions:
- Burning grass or leaves is only allowed in rural or agricultural areas.
- Open air burning is prohibited in fire-restricted zones declared by the Ministry of Natural Resources.
- Fires must not be set in areas where they may spread due to strong winds.
- Fires causing an inconvenience or irritation to others are not allowed.
Enforcement:
The Fire Chief or their designate may suspend or revoke a permit at any time.
