  • District Grants fund short term projects and activities, either local or international, that support The Rotary Foundation’s Mission and areas of focus.

    “The mission of The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.”

    “District 6440 Grant Policies” outlines all requirements for a District Grant application.  District Grants must also adhere to the following District requirements:

    Grant applications are due JUNE 15, 2025

    Eligibility for District Grants.

    In order to be eligible for a District Grant, the following requirements must be met:

    1. The club President-Elect must have submitted Club Goals for 2026-2027 for the Annual Fund, End Polio Now and Membership to Rotary Club Central no later than May 31, 2026.
    2. The 2026-2027 Club President and the Club President-Elect or the Club Secretary must execute the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) no later than May 31, 2026.
    3. The 2026-2027 Club President-Elect must have executed the Youth Protection Affidavit of Compliance.
    4. Participants in 2026-2027 District Grants must file Final Project Reports by May 31, 2027.
    5. At least one member of the club must have attended the 2026 Grant Management Seminar (GMS) or certify to the District Grants Chair that they have reviewed the recording of the GMS.

    Policies Regarding District Grants

    1. Clubs may apply for a maximum of two (2) District Grants, which may be 2 Domestic District Grants or a Domestic District Grant plus an International District Grant.
    2. A separate application must be filed for each grant.
    3. The eligible District Grant amount is found in the application below.  The Club must at least match the requested District Grant 100% with cash.
    4. District Grant Final Project Reports must be filed within thirty (30) days of completion of the project or May 31, 2027.  The club must maintain suitable records of all District Grant expenditures. 
    5. The club must cooperate with all District sponsored audits. 
    6. Club members are encouraged to have active participation in the project, showing that they are engaged in the project. Exceptions include International District Grants, Scholarships, RYLA, Youth Exchange, and other Rotary sanctioned organizations such as Shelter Box.
    7. All applications are reviewed by the District Grant Committee for adhering to requirements and completeness for grant to be accepted.

  • As a 501(c)(3) foundation, all project funding must comply with the following.

    The exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3) are charitable, religious, educational, scientific, literary, testing for public safety, fostering national or international amateur sports competition, and preventing cruelty to children or animals.  The term charitable is used in its generally accepted legal sense and includes relief of the poor, the distressed, or the underprivileged; advancement of religion; advancement of education or science; erecting or maintaining public buildings, monuments, or works; lessening the burdens of government; lessening neighborhood tensions; eliminating prejudice and discrimination; defending human and civil rights secured by law; and combating community deterioration and juvenile delinquency.
