Position: Security/Sanitation
Reports to: General Manager
Job Summary
The Security/Sanitation position is responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for patrons and staff. This role includes enforcing security policies, de-escalating conflicts, and assisting in maintaining cleanliness in the establishment. This position may also be cross-trained in other operational areas at the discretion of the General Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Previous security experience required.
- Skills: Strong written and verbal communication are critical for security related events as incidents may be challenged legally. All security incidents require a detailed written statement from the Security/Sanitation staff member(s) on duty for any incident that requires any use of force, or the involvement of law enforcement.
- Ability to follow company procedures accurately.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to stand extended periods of time.
- Proficiency in verbal and physical de-escalation techniques and strategies such as: verbal redirection, maintaining a calm tone, creating physical space.
- Proficiency in use of professional judgement of when security intervention escalates such as: when verbal efforts fail, handling intoxicated patrons, breaking up arguments, or if imminent physical threats arise.
- Preferred Qualifications:
Unexpired Tennessee USO Security Officer License issued by The Department of Commerce and Insurance. (Not required but preferred).
Key Responsibilities:
Safety & Security:
- Ensure a safe environment for all patrons and staff.
- Enforce door policy (no outside food). Outside liquor is permitted only if immediate communication with the bartender occurs for proper logging and fee collection.
- Monitor the parking lot for loitering and prevent escalations. Any physical altercations must be immediately addressed and if possible, de-escalated, with involved parties removed from the premises as quickly and safely as possible.
- Utilize de-escalation techniques in all possible confrontations, unless there is an immediate threat to safety.
- Report security incidents, including a debrief, to the General Manager to determine if appropriate action is necessary to address future concerns.
Sanitation & Cleanliness:
- Maintain a clean and presentable establishment.
- Assist in sanitation efforts including removal of waste from building.
- Report any sanitation concerns to the General Manager for appropriate action.
In addition to the key responsibilities, all employees must adhere to the following:
- Adhere to company policies regarding attendance, breaks, and dress code.
This position plays a critical role in the overall experience of the establishment, requiring professionalism, attentiveness, and adaptability.
Compensation:
This position is an hourly position and compensation is based on the skills and experience level of the applying individual.
