Examining Asian Representation in Modern Films and Its Impact on Cultural Identity  Consent FormYou have been invited to participate in a research study to explore how Asians are represented in modern movies and how these portrayals affect cultural identity and self-perception among Asian-identifying individuals. Please review this Consent Form carefully and contact me with any questions you may have before agreeing to participate in this study.The data I will be collecting for this study is survey responses that assess perceptions of Asian representation in movies. This study is being conducted by me, William Lu, as part of the required curriculum for the AP Capstone Research course at Union High School.ParticipationIf you agree to participate in this study, you will answer a set of questions that should take around 5 minutes to complete. Additionally, for participants who may have privacy concerns, all personal information will remain confidential. The data collected through this study will be used to compose an academic research paper and presented to an oral defense panel in the spring of 2025.Risks & BenefitsParticipation has minimal risks. These include reflecting on cultural identity or personal experiences, which some may find sensitive. This study provides a unique opportunity to share your own personal perspective on Asian representation in media, contributing to broader conversations about representation and diversity in films. Privacy & ConfidentialityAll data collected will remain confidential and stored securely. No identifying information will be included in the research analysis or final report. Any personal information provided, such as your name or contact details, will only be used for organizational purposes and will not be shared.Information provided in this Consent Form will only be used by me to keep track of participants and to contact if needed.Voluntary Nature of the StudyYour decision whether or not to participate will not affect your current or future relations with Union High School.
