Thank
you for choosing hand-tied hair extensions! To keep your extensions looking their best, please follow these care instructions. Proper maintenance will ensure the longevity and beauty of your hair.
Daily Care Routine:
Brushing: Use a loop brush or a wide-tooth comb to gently detangle your extensions at least twice a day. Start from the ends and work your way up to avoid pulling on the wefts. Hold the roots to prevent unnecessary tension on your natural hair. Avoid brushing when the hair is wet to minimize breakage.
Styling: Avoid excessive heat. If using heat tools, always apply a heat protectant spray. Use low to medium heat settings and never exceed 350°F to prevent damage. Avoid excessive tugging or tight hairstyles that can strain the wefts.
Sleeping: Braid your hair or put it in a loose ponytail before bed to prevent tangling. Consider using a silk or satin bonnet or pillowcase to reduce friction and frizz. Never sleep with wet or damp hair, as this can cause matting and tangling.
Products:Use only professional products recommended by your stylist to preserve hair integrity. Apply oil to the extension hair daily and use a detangler when brushing wet hair.
Sunscreen Caution: Sunscreen can damage hair extensions. Ingredients like avobenzone can turn extensions pink, peach, or gold. Always use a hair extension-safe sunscreen to protect the color and integrity of your extensions. (Your stylist is not liable for discoloration caused by using non-recommended sunscreen, as it cannot be removed).
Swimming: After exposure to salt water or chlorine, rinse your hair thoroughly, then condition and reapply oil to prevent dryness and discoloration.
Washing Instructions:
Detangle extensions before washing. Apply shampoo by gently massaging at the roots and letting it rinse through the ends. Avoid scrubbing the weft area too vigorously to prevent loosening.
Follow with a hydrating conditioner, applying from mid-shaft to ends (avoid the weft area). Let the conditioner sit for a few minutes before rinsing.
Use a microfiber towel to pat hair dry and avoid vigorous rubbing, which can cause frizz and tangling.
Always use hot tools on low heat levels.
Avoid using dry shampoos frequently, as they can cause buildup on the wefts and scalp.
Apply oil to your extension hair daily and brush it regularly throughout the day.
Maintenance and Appointments:
Schedule touch-ups every 6-8 weeks to maintain proper placement and avoid stress on natural hair.
Avoid applying oils or heavy conditioners directly on the base of the wefts, as this can cause buildup and cause damage or loosen the beads.
If you notice excessive shedding or loosening of the wefts, contact your stylist immediately for adjustments.
Regularly check for any tangling or matting near the base of the wefts and gently detangle as needed.
Avoid prolonged sun exposure, which can dry out the extensions. Use a UV protection spray if spending extended time outdoors.
DO's:
Use silk or satin pillowcases to reduce friction and prevent dryness.
Use professional-quality hair products recommended by your stylist and oil daily.
Tie hair up in a loose braid or ponytail before exercising to minimize tangling.
Use a deep conditioning treatment once a week to maintain hydration and softness.
Separate the wefts with your fingers regularly to prevent matting at the roots.
Use hair extension-safe sunscreen to prevent discoloration and maintain the integrity of the hair.
DONT's:
Pull or tug on your extensions, as this can cause tension and breakage.
Use high-heat settings on styling tools. Always keep heat below 350°F. Keep heat away from top of wefts.
Go to bed with wet hair; always dry it completely before sleeping to prevent matting.
Use harsh chemicals or alcohol-based products that can dry out or weaken the extensions.
Overuse styling products, as buildup can cause tangling and reduce the lifespan of the extensions.
Attempt to remove or reinstall extensions yourself—always consult your stylist for professional maintenance.
Use sunscreens containing avobenzone, as they can alter the color of your extensions.
