  • Dear SGA Executive Board Applicant:

    We are really excited about your interest in joining the Student Government Association's Executive Board for the upcoming year. Student Government Association's aim is to further the educational, spiritual, and relational development of the Wheaton College community as elected servant leaders representing student initiative, concern, creativity, and enthusiasm. Student Government Association is the primary vehicle for all Wheaton students to get involved with the governance of the college.

    Next year’s Executive Board will consist of 6 positions in addition to the President and Vice President: Secretary of Academic Affairs, Secretary of College Life, Secretary of Community Diversity, Secretary of Sustainability and Operations, Secretary of Student Wellness, and Secretary of Global Engagement. The  Public Relations Manager, Business Manager, and Administrative Manager, and elected senators also make up SGA. 

    All information received, both in your application and from references (references are waived for Summer/Fall 2025 applicants), is kept private. The application consists of the application form and two references (one from a faculty or staff member and one from a peer). Send your references this form (open, and then copy and paste for your references). Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.

    General Student Leader Qualities

    1. Commit to the mission and vision of SGA.
    2. Commit to the full-term August 2025-2026.
    3. Engage in weekly meetings and maintain confidentiality as it relates to private or sensitive information.
    4. Conduct myself professionally with my peers and staff, which includes accepting responsibility for choices, behaviors, communication and actions.
    5. Follow through with all responsibilities assigned to my position and by my team leaders and professional staff.
    6. Pursue personal spiritual growth: explore your own passions and develop your own talents, skills, and gifts as you serve in this role for other leaders, your organization, and the campus.
    7. Serve as an ambassador of Wheaton College, embodying Christian ethics and the Community Covenant both on and off campus.
    8. Compassionately confront inappropriate attitudes and behaviors of others.
    9. Prioritize balance and perspective as a student: will maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA as well as chapel attendance requirements and not be on any probation with Student Development.
    10. Work towards adaptability and versatility in the practice of doing work with others.
    11. Grow in honesty with oneself, knowing that honesty with oneself results in honesty with others.
    12. Recognize my location and perspective as a leader in a certain cultural context and work joyfully to combat systems which may favor some disproportionately over others, to ensure belonging for all.
    13. Communicate clearly and truthfully with others, acknowledging that there exist different styles of communication which, though different, are equally valid.

    In applying for this student leadership position with Student Government Association, I agree without reservation to abide by the expectations  of this organization, which are communicated in the job description, internal operation manual/handbook, and the student programming guide, and to reaffirm my commitment to Wheaton College and our  Community Covenant. I understand that SGA is  a part of Wheaton College and seeks to serve  Christ and advance His Kingdom. As a student leader, I will honor my academic responsibilities first and leadership activities second.  I believe that we are a community bound together as brothers and sisters in Christ. Therefore, I commit myself to my colleagues in SGA,  by  seeking to love each one,  and to be a Christ-like example to them as well as to the students SGA serves.


    I understand that I will not be permitted  to serve if I am on academic probation, disciplinary probation or if my cumulative GPA falls below 2.5. I understand that I may not be able to serve if I am on chapel probation. Students on chapel probation will require permission from a Student Development Dean to serve.  I agree to voluntarily resign my position if I am or later become subject to academic, disciplinary, or chapel probation. 


    I also acknowledge that a student must also be cleared to serve as a student leader by various departments on campus, including: the Chaplain’s Office, Residence Life/Student Conduct, Registrar’s Office, Equity & Title IX, Student Care Services, and Student Wellness.  I agree to cooperate in any process initiated by these offices resulting from information arising out of this clearance process.


    By signing and dating below, I am affirming that I meet the above requirements and give permission for the free exchange of information between representatives from all the offices listed above, in relation to SGA for verification purposes.


    I understand signing this authorization is voluntary, and that refusing to sign this form does not stop disclosure of information that is otherwise permitted by Federal law (FERPA) with or without my specific authorization, consent, or permission.


    This authorization will remain active for 12 months from the date of signing. I understand that I may revoke this authorization at any time by contacting student.engagement@wheaton.edu. I also understand that if I choose to revoke  this authorization,  I may negatively impact my  eligibility to be selected or continue to serve as a student leader at Wheaton College.

  • Secretary of College Life
    Represents student life outside the classroom and is responsible for areas like clubs, athletics, housing, Bon Appetit, the chaplains office, and student publications. This Secretary sits on the Research and Evaluation of Student Learning committee, the Student Technology and Auxiliary Services Advisory Committee, and the Student Publications Committee. They also act as a resource to the Board of Trustees Enrollment Committee.

    Secretary of Student Wellness
    Represents student concerns on physical, mental, and spiritual care and seeks to ensure that students are being cared for as holistic beings, not just academic machines. This secretary meets with the Dean of Student Wellness monthly and has the opportunity to meet with those in charge of LAS, SHS, Title IX and Equity Office, and the counseling center to advocate for student needs as well as ensure and increase the visibility of existing student resources.

    Secretary of Global Engagement
    Represents global engagement through areas like TCKs and F1 Visa Students, International Student Programs, and Global Programs and Studies. This secretary meets with the Director of ISP and the International Diversity leaders around campus to improve life on campus for students and faculty of international backgrounds.

    Business Manager
    Oversees SGA’s financial plan and budget. Responsible for club allocations, planning fundraisers such as Wheatie Cards, and Dine with a Mind.
