  • R.I.S.E. (Resilience, Inclusion, Solidarity, and Equity) a Black, Indigenous, and People of Color Employee Resource Group Interest Form

The purpose of R.I.S.E is to promote a thriving, respectful, and welcoming professional work environment for those who identify as BIPOC or an ally at the City of Newport News. R.I.S.E. sets out to create a community where members can come together to discuss and mobilize around issues specific to its constituency. The group serves as a collaborative tool to augment the work of the ABIDE Program and fortify the City of Newport News' commitment to the work and values of DEI. Through strengthening internal connections amongst the members and allies of the BIPOC community working for the City of Newport News, the R.I.S.E. will aid the City of Newport News in cultivating a workplace and culture built on the pillar of DEI, resulting in more effective outcomes in its work, outreach, engagement, and service delivery. R.I.S.E. has a committee structure. The committees meet at their discretion and R.I.S.E. meets monthly for an hour.
