  • Elevate your summer with the Teen Volunteer Summer Program, supporting the Recreation Division's Summer Camp, Swim Lesson, and Deer Hollow Farm programs. Dive into a dynamic and enjoyable volunteer experience, blending advanced training with meaningful service opportunities.

    Please note: The City of Mountain View cannot serve as a Certifying Organization for the The President's Volunteer Service Award.

  • Requirements:

    • Ages 14-17 by June 16, 2025 (no exceptions)
    • Attend mandatory training(s) (no make up dates)
    • Interest in volunteering with youth and gaining job skills
  • Program Options:

    There are 3 program options within the Teen Summer Volunteer Program - Junior Leaders, Junior Lifeguards, and Deer Hollow Farm Interns. Please review the below information to find the program that meets your availability and interests. You will select the program you want to apply for later in the application. 

    Please note - if you would like to apply for more than one program option, you will need to submit an applications for each program option you are applying to. 

     

    Junior Leaders
    Training Date: Wednesday, June 11, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at The View Teen Center
    Minimum requirement: 1 week of service

    Junior Leaders have the exciting opportunity to join the City of Mountain View summer camps, where they will engage with youth, lead activities and games, and shadow camp staff. Participants must be available for at least one week of service between Jun. 16 and Aug. 1, with full and half-day shifts running Monday through Friday between 8:45 a.m. - 4:15 p.m.

     

    Junior Lifeguards
    Training Date: Wednesday, June 11, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at The View Teen Center and Rengstorff Park Aquatics Center
    Minimum requirement: 2 weeks of service (1 session)

    Junior Lifeguards play a vital role in supporting Aquatics staff by helping create a safe, fun, and welcoming environment during swim lessons. This opportunity is perfect for those interested in aquatics and volunteering with youth. Volunteers must be available for at least two weeks of service between Jun. 16 and Aug. 7, with shifts offered Monday through Thursday and Saturdays at varying times at two locations.

     

    Deer Hollow Farm Interns
    Training Dates: Thursday, June 12 at 2 pm to Friday, June 13 to 12 p.m. [overnight at DHF]
    Minimum requirement: 2 weeks of service

    Deer Hollow Farm Interns support staff in leading outdoor and farm activities during Deer Hollow Farm Wilderness Camps. This program is ideal for individuals passionate about the outdoors and working with youth. Interns must be available for at least three weeks of service between Jun. 16 and Aug. 1, with shifts running Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Transportation to and from Deer Hollow Farm is conveniently provided from the Community Center.

    • Submit an online application (below).

    • Attend an in-person interview. You will schedule your interview during the online application. The interview is not meant to be intimidating, but rather provide an opportunity to practice interviewing and confirm your availability and commitment to the program.

    • Attend the mandatory training required for your program. Training is required to participate in the Teen Summer Volunteer program. There are no make-up training dates available. 

    • Review your assigned volunteer role and date(s). You will receive an email by Friday, May 23 with your assigned volunteer role and date(s).
