                      RENEWAL Member * Were you a member last term (April 2024-May 2025)? If so, then all you have to do is pay your annual fee!                       Active Retired Member*An active retired member shall be a former active member of SDLSA who has maintained continuous membership for the prior fifteen (15) years and is eligible for social security and no longer employed full-time. An active retired member shall have all the rights and privileges of an active member. The annual dues of SDLSA shall be waived, plus $60 per capita taxes assessed by Legal Professionals, Inc.

                      Associate MemberAvailable for those that do not meet Active Membership Requirements and shall be (a) a graduate of high school, college or business school; (b) intent on changing careers or re-entering the work force; (c) desiring to be employed in the legal field; (d) a person who possesses, or is in the process of obtaining, a degree or certification from an educational institution which is related to the field of law; or (e) a person who supports the mission and goals of SDLSA. An associate member may retain such status for only two (2) years or longer upon written application to and approval of the Board, and may not make motions, vote or hold office. ($15, plus $60 per capita taxes assessed by Legal Professionals, Inc.)

                      Retired MemberA retired member shall be a former active member of SDLSA who has maintained continuous membership for the prior fifteen (15) years and is eligible for social security and no longer employed full-time. A retired member may not hold office, make motions, or vote. The annual dues to SDLSA shall be waived and retired members shall NOT pay SDLSA or per capita taxes assessed by Legal Incorporated, Inc.

                    • SAN DIEGO LEGAL SECRETARIES ASSOCIATION SDLSA® is a non-profit, mutual benefit corporation, to which membership is open to persons employed as legal support staff in the offices of attorneys who practice law in California. Also eligible for membership are attorneys, persons employed in the courts, and persons employed in other offices or institutions directly engaged in any work of a legal nature in San Diego County. Our objective is to join together to further the education of legal secretaries and to cooperate with attorneys, judges, and bar associations in stimulating a high order of professional standards and ethics among those performing secretarial and other duties in law offices. We encourage friendship, cooperation, and an exchange of ideas among members. All Active and Active Retired SDLSA® members are affiliated with Legal Professionals, Incorporated, a statewide organization.

                      Do you qualify for membership?  The membership year runs from May 1 through April 30 of each year. Active membership: Applicants must have been continuously employed in legal work (1) in San Diego for at least 6 months, or (2) elsewhere for at least 12 months.  Associate Membership: Available for those not meeting Active membership requirements.

                      The SDLSA® Board of Directors will review all applications for membership approval.

                      NOTE: For Renewal members, applications and/or dues received after May 31, 2025, are subject to a $10 penalty fee. The $10 fee will be deposited into the SDLSA® Scholarship Fund. For New Active members applying after Nov. 1, 2025, the registration fee is $75. According to Standing Rule No. 4, a collection fee of $25, plus bank charges shall be assessed for each returned check.
