Language Rights Pledge

The Linguistic Justice Foundation (LJF) is committed to advancing the protection of language rights worldwide through education, research and capacity building. By pledging your support, you can join us in resisting systemic linguistic discrimination and creating a future where all languages and the people who use them are valued and protected.

The Pledge
By signing the Linguistic Justice Foundation’s Language Rights Pledge, you agree to: 

1. Identify Language Rights Violations
Identify and expose language rights violations, and find novel and effective ways to challenge them.

2. Speak up for Language Rights
Explicitly and consistently use the term ‘language rights’ in relevant communications such as social media, and newsletters.

 

3. Engage in Communities of Learning and Practice
Continue learning about language rights and linguistic justice by forming and actively participating in communities of practice that are broad, diverse and inclusive.

* The Linguistic Justice Foundation does not impose any monitoring or evaluation measures on compliance associated with this pledge; we aim to work together in good faith and solidarity and hope that signatories will seek to implement these measures in a timely manner, in accordance with their broader vision and strategy. Furthermore, by signing this pledge, you are confirming that you understand that LJF is not responsible for the legal and other consequences of how organizations and individuals implement the actions outlined in this pledge. Pledge signatories should make every effort to ensure that their activities conform with local laws and regulations.
