GUIDELINES FOR APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIP
The Jackson (MS) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has long been a proponent of academic excellence, as evidenced by its generous financial donations to Tougaloo College, Jackson State University, other United Negro College Fund (UNCF) institutions, and its individual student scholarships.
The chapter will award two (2) scholarships of one thousand dollars ($1,000) each, one to a full-time student at Jackson State University and one to a full-time student at Tougaloo College, who has maintained a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or above. All current sophomore and junior females who are Deltas or who are NOT already members of other National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations are encouraged to apply. Students whose mothers are current members of the Jackson (MS) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. are INELIGIBLE to apply.
1. Interested students must submit a completed typed application and an official transcript.
2. Applicants must write an essay entitled “My career goals and how they impact the future.”
The essay should be a minimum of two hundred (200) words. All information submitted must be typed.
3. The application and essay must be submitted to the Chapter’s Educational Development Committee by Sunday, March 15, 2026. No late submissions will be accepted. All materials must be mailed to:

4. Each qualified applicant will be interviewed by the Educational Development Committee at a scheduled location and time.
5. The selection of winners will be based on the number of points received. Applicants will receive a maximum of 15 points for the application, 40 points for the essay, 30 points for the interview, and 15 points for leadership and service. Winners will be notified prior to the conclusion of the Spring 2026 semester.
