ELIGIBILITY: High School Seniors at St. Timothy Parish
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: Two scholarships, for deserving efforts only:
· First Prize: $2,000
· Second Prize: $1,000
ESSAY PROMPT: What are the the two most important virtues for an elected leader to possess, and why? How can you determine if the leader has these virtues?
ESSSAY GUIDELINES: Type a 500-750 word essay on the provided prompt.
SELECTED WINNER: Entries will be forwarded to a panel of judges anonymously. The essays will be judged on grammar, style, and how clearly teens present the theme in a way that showcases creativity, imagination and overall development of the topic. Essays will be judged on a 100-point scoring system:
· Content (35 points): How clearly is the theme presented?
· Grammar (30 points): Does the essay reflect proper sentence and paragraph structure and utilize correct spelling?
· Style (35 points): Does the essay show creativity, imagination and development of the topic in a compelling style?
Winning essays will be notified via email on Monday, April 28th and presented at Knight’s monthly council meeting on Thursday, May 1st in the Parish Hall. The meeting commences at 7:00 p.m. and the presentation will be at the beginning of the meeting.

1. Do NOT include your name or any personal information in your essay in order to keep all submissions anonymous.
2. All submissions must be typed and uploaded via this form. (PDF format only).
3. AI Generative usage is strictly prohibited. Essays will be screened for plagiarism and AI Generative usage. Any detection of plagiarism or AI Generative usage in your essay will result in a termination of consideration.
