Dear Caring Client,
Thank you so much for taking the next step to spay or neuter your dog! We are very excited to take care of your pet at Little Traverse Bay Veterinary Clinic. Since your pet will be undergoing anesthesia, we would like to go over some very important options you have:
1. Bloodwork
Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is an ideal test performed prior to your pet going under anesthesia. If your pet is under the age of 5 years, we recommend a pre-anesthetic profile, which consists of a Chemistry panel. This test will assess the health of the liver, kidneys and pancreas to ensure your pet is a good candidate for anesthesia. Cost: $68
If your pet is over the age of 5 years or at a higher anesthetic risk, we recommend a larger chemistry profile that includes a CBC. This test offers even more information about your pets organs as well as a complete blood count. Cost: $165
2. IV Fluids
We highly recommend allowing us to place an IV Catheter on the day of surgery. This will give us access to the bloodstream directly, allowing us to give fluids or any emergency medicatoins if needed. This will allow your pet to stay hydrated, the blood pressure to stay stable, and will help to flush out their system. Cost: $30
3. E-Collar/Comfy Cone
This prevents your pet from licking/chewing on incision site, which is very important in the healing process. Cost: $17-42
2. Flea/Tick/Ear Mite Treatment
If fleas, ticks or ear mites are found on your pet the day of surgery, it is clinic policy to administer medication/treatment to kill the fleas, ticks or other parasites at the Owner’s expense. Cost: $17-31
3.Pre-Surgery Pregnancy Exam
If you believe that your pet may be pregnant, it would be advisable to bring your pet in for an exam prior to surgery to alleviate possible complications of Surgery that could be avoided with an Exam. Cost: $50
4.Post-Operative Therapeutic Laser
Laser therapy or photo biomodulation targets your pets damaged cells and helps them regenerate faster. Laser therapy following a surgical procedure can help further alleviate pain and stimulate the healing process so your pet can recover quicker. Cost: $15
To be considered a current patient with LTBVC, we must have a current wellness exam on file for your pet. This procedure does not quality as a wellness exam.
We look forward to meeting you and taking care of your wonderful pet! Thank you for taking the time to read this information. If you have any questions prior to your pet going under anesthesia, or about the procedure itself, please don’t hesitate to call us. Our number is 231-622-6363.
