                  • Llama Parade and Afternoon with the Public

                  • Saturday, November 1st, we'll invite the public to join us for a llama parade from 1:30-2:00 around the hotel grounds. Afterwards there will be activities for the public to get involved including Llead a Llama, coloring activities, etc. We'll invite the public to shop from the vendors and to experience llamas hands on.

                     

                  • Cornhole Tournament

                  • Back by popular demand, GALA's Corn Hole Tournament will take place at the Conference.  Anyone and everyone is encouraged to participate.  Bring $5 per person to the event and we promise to put you on a winning team. 

                  • Centerpiece Fundraiser

                  • Use your creativity to create a centerpiece for our banquet tables.  Maybe a CAMELIDS ROCK theme!  The centerpieces will help us decorate the main ballroom tables and will then be auctioned off after the banquet on Saturday. Must have a camelid image in form or fiber. No more than 20 inches in diameter and not more than 8 inches tall. Can be made out of camelid fiber, wood, metal, plastic, glass, fabric, etc.

                  • Yard Sale

                  • Do you have any used tack (buckets, halters, leads, poop scoopers, etc.), small equipment (shears, blades) just taking up space.  Bring them to our big YARD SALE. See Web Site or Conference Registration packet for details. Make a few bucks on stuff you don't need anymore and at the same time give the GALA bank account a bit of a boost.

                  • Walk Down Memory Lane

                  • We want to display in the fiber room, some of the wonderful items from the past that people have bought in the auction.  If you have an item, bring it along to display for others to enjoy and be inspired.

                  • Fiber Room

                    • Two members of the local Cuyahoga Spinners Guild have graciously stepped forward to teach classes this year. Mary Casey and Paula Janu will teach basic drop-spindle techniques during a session. One drop-spindle, alpaca and wool roving will be provided to each member to use during the workshop. Paula will also teach how to transform PBL (plain brown llama) roving by dyeing and spinning. (Must sign up at the conference registration table upon arrival)
                    • Charlotte Sankey will again offer her well-loved needle felting class.
                    • Deb Gaskill will lead a class on Ice Dyeing. (Must sign up at the conference registration table upon arrival)
                    • Laura DiDonato will lead a class on rug hooking.
                    • Laura Harrawood will again share her method of "spinning with beads" and a special "make'n'take" wet-felting class that will require two sessions. (Must sign up at the conference registration table upon arrival)
                    • Barb Baker will teach her continuous strand weave course again. (Must sign up at the conference registration table upon arrival)
                    • Cindy Millard will be demonstrating batik dyeing.

                     

                    • Do you have a knitting project in the works? Are there techniques that frustrate you or have you just hit a wall and don’t know what to do next (or how to fix it)? Come join the knitting circle!

                     

                  • Fashion Show

                  • During lunch we will feature people and their fiber creations as they walk through the audience to be admired. Please email your 1-2 sentence description to marilynmilton@charter.net or bring a hard copy to the conference to give to Marilyn.

                  • Banquet

                  • Come as you like, casual to dressy.  Vintage Hippie or Rock and Roll costumes WOULD BE GROOVY, even if just a flower behind your ear!!  This special dinner on Saturday is followed by a LIVE AUCTION.  So think about what you might be able to bring for the bidding.  Proceeds go to camelid research and government relations.

                  • Veterinarian Day

                  • Veterinarian Day, Friday October 31, 2025

                    $100 includes five sessions and lunch with GALA members and veterinarians. Hear and spend time with our speakers: Dr. Andy Niehaus, DVM, at The Ohio State University, will be our keynote speaker, sharing stories of his work with The Coumbus Zoo and presenting "Beyond the Barn: Exotic Insights from a Farm Animal Vet" and will also lead additional classes on Friday “Emergency Surgery for Camelids” and “Standing Strong: Camelid Bone & Orthopedic Conditions”.  

                    Dr. Robert Van Saun, DVM, is a renowned camelid nutrition specialist at Penn State University and will have two sessions: “What’s Happening in Peru?”, “Forage: the Key to Feeding Camelids”

                    Dr. Char Arendas, DVM, will give a presentation on “Environmental Enrichment for Camelids.”

                    There is a broad range of topics of interest to veterinarians as well as camelid owners.

                  • Pioneer Reunion

                  • This will be the time to chat with those PIONEERS who helped to build this industry and make it what it is.  Take the opportunity to learn from experience.

                  • Costume Party

                  • It wouldn't be Halloween without a costume party.  Friday night dinner is the time to don your disguise.

                  • Donation to the Fundraiser
