Laser Hair Removal Pre & Post Care
  • Laser Hair Removal Pre & Post Care

  • PRE-CARE

    • When to Shave
      • Shave 12–24 hours before your appointment. If you arrive unshaved, your appointment will need to be rescheduled.
    • Waxing, Tweezing, and Hair Removal Creams
      • Discontinue use 4–6 weeks before and during all treatment sessions.
    • Lotion and Deodorant
      • Please avoid applying these before your appointment. If necessary, I can remove them for you before starting the session.
    • Sun Exposure, Tanning Beds, and Self-Tanning Products
      • Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning lotions or spray tans 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
    • Skin Conditions and Medications
      • Please reschedule your appointment if there is any sign of irritation, rashes, dermatitis, open wounds, or have used antibiotics or steroids in the last 2 weeks.
    • Scrubs, Oils, Retinols, Scented Lotions, and Peels
      • Avoid these for 3 days prior to your appointment.
  • POST-CARE

  • TREAT YOUR SKIN GENTLY FOR 24 HOURS POST TREATMENT

    • Heat and Sweating
      • Avoid exposure to heat or sweat (such as sun, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, or exercising) for 48 hours.
    • Sun Exposure, Tanning Beds, and Self-Tanning Products
      • Do not expose your skin to the sun, tanning beds, spray tans, or tanning lotions for 2 weeks after treatment.
    • Bathing and Showering
      • Use cool or lukewarm water and gentle soap. Pat skin dry, no scrubbing
    • Shaving
      • No shaving for 5-7 days post treatment.
      • Shedding can occur 10-21 days post treatment.
    • Hair Removal Between Sessions
      • Avoid tweezing, waxing, or using hair removal creams between appointments. Shaving is the only acceptable method of hair removal during sessions.
    • Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize! (no scented lotions!)
    • Clothing
      • Avoid tight or restrictive clothing on the treated area for 24 hours.
    • Irritation Relief
      • For irritation, apply aloe vera or an ice pack. You can also take antihistamines or use hydrocortisone to reduce post-treatment irritation.
    • Deodorant and Makeup
      • Wait 24-48 hours before applying deodorant or makeup.
    • Sunscreen
      • Use a sunscreen with SPF 30+ daily on the treated areas to protect them from the sun and prevent hyperpigmentation.
        • Sunscreen acts as a protective barrier, shielding your skin from UV damage, and is generally non-irritating. It’s especially important for protecting sensitive skin after laser hair removal.
        • Makeup and deodorant often contain ingredients that can irritate or clog pores, so it's best to avoid applying them for 24–48 hours after treatment.
        • Sunscreen is applied to protect, while makeup and deodorant could potentially irritate the treated area.
    • Topical Products
      • Avoid using scrubs, oils, retinols, scented lotions, or peels for at least 5 days after your appointment.
