This program, developed under the Meloy Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program (MEIEP) enables exceptional undergraduate engineering students to spend a summer working on a paid internship with a fast-growing early-stage startup.     Below you will find the company and project descriptions for each of the 15 host companies. You will be asked to indicate your interest for each company below the project description. There is no limit to how many companies you may indicate interest in, but please be mindful of the required majors, skills, and experiences if provided by the company.

      Project Description

      We’re looking for a hands-on engineering intern to help build fixtures and tools that support R&D and QA of advanced robotic and bionic hands. This is a practical, build-oriented role. You’ll spend time in CAD, but you’ll also be in the lab printing parts, soldering, wiring, assembling, writing scripts, and testing what you design.

      What you’ll be doing:

      • Designing and modeling test fixtures and jigs in CAD 
      • Building rigs to test motors, tendons, and finger mechanisms
      • Creating simple tools to make assembly faster and more repeatable
      • 3D printing parts using FDM and iterating quickly
      • Soldering and integrating basic electronics
      • Writing simple scripts or embedded code (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Python, etc.) to automate tests or log data
      • Ordering parts and putting hardware together
        Troubleshooting and refining designs based on real test results

      You might end up building motor load test rigs, finger articulation fixtures, automated data logging setups, or alignment tools used during hand assembly.

      By the end of the internship, we expect you to have designed and built multiple working fixtures or tools, produced clean CAD and print-ready files, assembled functional test setups, and documented how everything works. You’ll also present what you built and what you learned to the team.

      Project Description

      The intern will lead the design of interactive product configuration experiences on the FluxWorks website, where users select options (electronics, motor module, drive, etc.) and see the product assemble in real time. Working closely with engineering to ensure technical accuracy, the intern will connect each configuration to the correct datasheet and elevate the overall visual system across web and collateral. The role also includes integrating and refining HubSpot website workflows to support Sales/Marketing and the Chief Strategy Officer.

      Project Description

      The intern will help extend NeuraStasis's oxygenation monitoring technology to develop a new product for muscle oxygenation applications in rehabilitation or sports physiology. Building on a previously developed prototype, the intern will initially research market opportunities by performing customer interviews, assessment of competitor products, etc to evaluate and plan product improvements.

      The intern will prototype, implement, and test these improvements, including CAD modeling of mechanical components, electrical schematic design and layout, and/or development of device firmware and connected mobile application. The end deliverables will be an assessment of the market opportunity, go-to-market strategy, and a functional minimum-viable product to obtain customer input and refine design requirements for future iterations.

      The intern will continue building out a data dashboard initiated by a previous Texas A&M intern. The project involves pulling data via API from multiple sources into a unified dashboard, including gas pressure, hash rate, generator temperatures, chip temperatures, and other operational metrics.

      Momentum Technologies has developed a Membrane Solvent Extraction (MSX) process performance model, and a chemical consumption model in python and excel, respectively. The Meloy intern is expected to improve the accuracy and the GUI of the models, and gain skills in applying first principle based neural network upon the completion of the project.

      The intern will support the commercial launch of ROOVIE, working directly with engineering, product, and commercial teams during a critical go-to-market phase.       Project Description

      The intern will design, procure, install, and test a bench-scale, portable fluidized-bed reactor capable of validating sorbent performance at Mitico's R&D laboratory and customer sites. The project spans engineering design (mechanical, process, and controls), bill of materials and procurement, bench assembly and instrumentation, commissioning, and sorbent validation testing campaigns. Deliverables include a functional reactor system, test data and analysis, SOPs, and a final presentation.
