MICROSCHOOL STRUCTURE / FEES
Gilmer's Learning Solutions, LLC, operating as The Foundation Christian Microschool (FCM), has been serving the community since 2020. We are proud to be the recipient of the 2021 LRRC Minority Enterprise Development Week award, the 2022 Emerging Minority Business of the Year award, and a finalist for the 2023 Small Business Impact Award.
Our Principal Educator, Ar’Jillian Gilmer, MED, was a fellow in the Arizona State University Prep Microschool Entrepreneur Fellowship, which provides ongoing professional development, resources, and coaching for microschool leaders and staff. Additionally, CMGLS is a member of the National Center for Microschooling.
FCM operates on a flexible schedule during the traditional school year, facilitating learning for 20-38 students in grades K-8 in a facility rented by Gilmer's Learning Solutions, LLC. We utilize modern technology and 21st-century skills in our curriculum and employ dedicated teachers who are passionate about education. We offer instruction in core academic competencies (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies), and each day is infused with Christian values, allowing students to express and learn Biblical principles in conjunction with their education and socialization.
Our microschool assists Central Arkansas homeschool families who seek personalized and flexible education infused with Christian values for their K-8th-grade children. We provide highly effective instruction in a close-knit environment and through community engagement, with the goal of developing children into positive contributors to society.
Instruction takes place weekly, Tuesday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a fourth flex day for community immersion regularly built into our academic calendar. For community immersion activities, each child will receive a permission slip to attend and to ride in transportation secured by FCM.

STAFF
FCM staff come from a variety of backgrounds with each one being selected based upon their interpersonal skills, their teaching and learning experience, as well as their experience with children. Lead teaching staff are 18 years or older and have reputable childhood and/or recreation experience. Minimum requirements for teaching staff assistants are high school and/or college attendance, personal high academic achievement and experience working with children in small group settings.
SUPERVISION
All students will be under the direct supervision of staff at all times. No persons under 16 years of age shall be responsible for any group of children. No child will be left unattended indoors or outdoors at any time. Only a parent/guardian or an individual who is on the pickup permission slip may check out students. Picture identification is required at the time of pick up if it is a person different than the parent/guardian listed.
DROP-OFF and PICK-UP
Parents are to come to the door for pick up and drop off to sign their child(ren) in and out. If someone on your pick-up list will be picking up your child, they will be asked to show picture identification. BYOB(reakfast) is from 8:30 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. Instruction begins at 9 am. Pick up begins at 2:30 p.m. and concludes by 3:00 p.m. Learning experiences begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.
Late Pick Up Policy – All FCM students should be picked up by 3:00 p.m. Families, who are late due to unforeseen circumstances (please call), will be issued a verbal warning on a case-by-case basis. To avoid situations like these, we encourage families to have a backup plan. We understand that unavoidable situations occur, and we intend to handle each situation with understanding and patience. Frequent late drop-off and pick-up may result in suspension of the child/ren from the program. We ask parents to be respectful and courteous regarding this policy. Families who regularly and without regard violate this policy will be required to pay an additional late fee of $5 per student per occurrence which is due by the end of the month.
If a child is left more than 30 minutes past 3:00 pm, and we have not heard from a parent/family, or if the parent/family cannot be reached and no one is available to pick up the child, the DHS office will be asked to come and transport that child to a safe location.
ABSENCES
If your child is going to be absent from microschool for the day, please call or text (901) 590-9189, message a teacher via Connecteam, email, or bring a note the day before. You may also email grow@gilmerslearningsolutions.com. We understand that emergencies arise, and not all situations will allow prior notice. Please practice giving advance notice as much as possible.
MEDICATIONS
Medications should be administered at home prior to arrival at CMGLS unless administration during the instructional day is required. In this event, any medication to be administered must be in a prescription-labeled bottle stating the type of medication, frequency of dosage and amount to be given. A medication form must be on file. If a child has an allergy that may require an epi pen and that child has a prescription, it is required to have one stored at CMGLS for emergency situations. No exceptions will be made to these rules. It is in the best interest of your child to have any medications properly administered.
SICK CHILD
At FCM, medical services are minimal. We stock only first aid medical supplies. If a sick child arrives, we will assume the illness began at home and will not allow the child to attend until they have been fever free without medication for 24 hours. We want to prevent the spread of infection throughout the facility. We should be able to contact you at home or at the alternate telephone number listed on your child’s registration for you to come and take the child home. Children who come to microschool with dressings are encouraged to have them changed at home. Please inform us by note if the dressing must be changed.
GILMER'S LEARNING SOLUTIONS, LLC DOES NOT PROVIDE MEDICAL INSURANCE FOR CMGLS ATTENDEES. WE DO HAVE HOME/MICROSCHOOL INSURANCE TO COVER LEARNING EXPERIENCES IN AND OUT OF THE FACILITY.
CONCERNS
Any concerns or comments should be addressed with the Principal Educator.
LUNCH & SNACKS
Attendees will be provided an afternoon snack every day at microschool. Because we are a homeschool community, lunch is not included in the cost of attendance. Students may bring a packed lunch from home, or for an additional charge, lunch can be secured by FCM and provided by a reputable food service provider. If your child decides to bring his/her own lunch and snacks, both should be clearly labeled with your child’s name. Due to the risk of allergens, students will not be allowed to share/swap foods without parental permission.
