• Microneedling Pre/Post Care

  • PRE-CARE

    • Sun Exposure, Tanning Beds, and Self-Tanning Products
      • Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning lotions or spray tans 2-4 weeks prior to treatment.
      • Use sunscreen SPF 30+ daily and reapply as needed.
      • Treatments will need to be rescheduled if you have a sunburn, recent tan, or self-tanner on your skin.
    • Active Ingredients
      • Avoid topical retinoids, vitamin C, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and benzoyl peroxide for at least 7 days prior to treatment.
    • Other Treatments
      • Avoid IPL/Laser procedures or chemical peel treatments for at least 7 days prior to treatment. Please let me know if you've had other skin treatments in the past month.
    • Filler & Botox
      • Avoid filler for at least 1 month before treatment. Botox can be done up to 2 weeks before or after microneedling.
    • Arrive with clean, product free skin.
    • Avoid unnecessary blood thinners (e.g. ibuprofen) but follow prescribed medications as directed.
    • Accutane
      • Wait at least 6 months after finishing isotretinoin (Accutane) before microneedling.
    • Antiviral Protocol (if needed)
      • If you have a history of cold sores, be sure to start your antiviral medication 24-48 hours before treatment and continue for 3-5 days afterward.
  • POST-CARE

  • UP TO 72 HOURS POST TREATMENT

    • A sunburn-like sensation, redness, swelling, and small pinpoint bleeding along with the skin feeling tight and sensitive to touch in the treated areas, are all normal and should subside over the next few days.
    • Apply cool compresses as needed to help with discomfort, burning, redness, or swelling.
    • Apply SPF 30+ to treated areas and reapply every 2 hours.
    • Make sure to use a clean pillowcase at night following your treatment. This helps prevent irritation or infection while your skin heals!
    • Avoid using heavy creams or petroleum-based products on the treated areas. Only use lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizers if needed. If you have any questions about products, dont hesitate to reach out!
    • Always use clean hands, a gentle cleanser, cool water and pat dry!
    • Avoid exposure to heat or sweat (such as sun, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, or exercising) for 48-72 hours post treatment.
    • Avoid applying makeup for at least 48 hours after your treatment. If you can wait a little longer to minimize irritation, even better!
    • Avoid using Ibuprofen, Motrin, or Advil for pain relief, as they can thin the blood, which may increase the risk of bruising or slow the healing process. If needed, Tylenol can be used for any mild discomfort.
    • While some redness and swelling are normal, if you notice anything unusual, like persistent redness or redness getting worse beyond 3 days, increased swelling, or signs of infectio, please reach out right away!

UP TO 7 DAYS POST TREATMENT

    • Do not rub, exfoliate, or pick at the treated areas.
      • If your skin feels dry or starts to flake, keep it moisturized and allow the flakes to shed naturally!
    • Avoid using the following active ingredients on the treated areas: topical retinoids, vitamin C, glycolic acid, salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide.
    • After 7 days, you may resume your active ingredients as long as the skin is no longer irritated.
    • Avoid treatments that cause exfoliation of the skin including facials, extractions, waxing, and threading.
    • Apply sunscreen with SPF 30+ to all treated areas and reapply as needed.
    • Avoid sun exposure, spray tans, and tanning products.
      • If you'll be in the sun, don’t forget to wear a hat and reapply sunscreen every 2 hours!
