This session will discuss how our brain guides our development of identity and attitudes towards others. With a focus on the concept of Schemas, participants will gain insights on how schemas are helpful for survival while at the same time be a cause for biased thinking and actions.

Teacher Liane (she/her) has been an Early Childhood Educator for over 30years – 19 of those years in a PCPO member school in Seattle. Liane’steaching roots stem from developmental psychology, play-based emergentcurriculum and anti-bias practices. Liane is an advocate for strengthening thebonds between children and their families and has served as a PCPO BoardMember for 3 years. Liane finds joy in gardening, going on walks, playing the‘ukulele and piano and picking berries in the summertime.
