    Fort Worden Dance Workshop Registration

    October 3-5, 2025

  • Please note that due to the closure of Fort Worden Hospitality, workshop classes and housing will not be at Fort Worden State Park this year. We have identified alternative locations in Port Townsend, Washington for the weekend.

    • Workshop and Class Selection 

    • Please select your workshop preference below. The full workshop includes the Friday Welcome Dance, Saturday classes, Saturday Ball, and Sunday Social Dance. The retreat option includes the Welcome Dance, Saturday Ball, and Sunday Social Dance only.

    • Class Descriptions

      Scout Cabin Class (Fiona, Yvonne)
      This class will polish standard footwork and formations in fun and interesting dances. Recommended for newer dancers and dancers who prefer to learn at a more Social and relaxed pace. (Classes will take place at Fred Lewis Scout Cabin: 3075 Discovery Road, Port Townsend, WA 98368)

      Erickson Hall Class (Yvonne, Fiona)
      This class will include more challenging dances and unusual formations, with limited walkthroughs. Recommended for experienced dancers who like a mental as well as a physical challenge. (Classes will take place at Erickson Hall at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds: 4907 Landes St, Port Townsend, WA 98368)

      Triple the Fun! (Fiona)
      Now that you have learned dances with two couple formations this is your opportunity to find out how to dance them as three couple formations. In this session we will focus on becoming familiar with formations that can be danced as 3 couples like "Set and Link", "Bourrel", "Ladies Chain" or the "Knot".

      Between the Rivers and Beyond (Yvonne)
      Dances from the DC area dance book and other dances by local or formerly local devisors.

      Ball Walkthrough (Seattle Area Teachers)
      Some of the more complicated dances on the Saturday evening Ball program will be reviewed. This session is open to all weekend attendees.

    • If you selected the Full Workshop option, please let us know session preferences. You can change your choice at the time of the workshop, but indicating your preference now will help the teachers prepare for their sessions.

    • Food  

    • This year, we will offer a catered lunch on Saturday between classes. The lunch will be provided by Hills and Valley Catering and is partially subsidized by us.The menu includes a hot vegetable soup, your choice of sandwich (veggie wrap, roast beef, turkey, chicken salad), a garden salad, and dessert. Gluten-free options for all items will be available.

      If you would like to purchase Saturday lunch, please check the box below. You do not need to attend classes to sign up for the lunch.

    • Housing 

    • The Manresa Castle Hotel has been selected as our host hotel for this year. It is located less than 3 miles from the Jefferson Fairgrounds where we will hold the evening dances and some classes. This historic venue was built in 1892, briefly served as a Jesuit training college, and is purported to be haunted (!). We have reserved the entire hotel (40 rooms) for the weekend. Please note that the hotel has a restaurant which is open for dinner only and there are no self-catering facilities. The hotel is three stories tall and has an antique elevator (the oldest in Washington!) which operates during limited hours (be prepared to take the stairs if coming in late).       The price list for our group is below and is the total price for October 3-5, including tax. Please call the hotel and let them know you are with the Scottish Dance Group to reserve a room.

      Rooms are available on a first-come first-served basis, so make your reservation right away. If you made your reservation before March 15, please contact them to confirm that you are still on their list.

      The Manresa Castle will handle all reservations and payments. You may contact them at 360-385-5750 or go to their website to send a message with your request.

      Cancellation Policy

      If you need to cancel your registration for any reason, full refunds are available until June 30. After June 30, we will refund your workshop payment minus a $50 fee.
