  • All interested parties who wish to conduct research or other investigative projects within the boundaries of the Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve (HRNERR) must complete this form. This information provides Reserve staff with a description of your project, logistical details, and potential needs from Reserve staff or facilities. It also allows for relevant research projects to be entered into the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) / National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) Database, which catalogs research and monitoring work at reserves. This information will also allow us to share your project work with Reserve staff, partners, stakeholders, the public, and with other interested researchers.

Please be aware that our component sites are NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) property. Permit(s) from DEC may be required before accessing or undertaking any research activities. While HRNERR staff can assist with advisement on which permits to apply for and provide some technical information, it is the researcher’s responsibility to obtain all necessary permits.
