  • The Kids in Transition to School (KITS) is a FREE summer program that is available to any child who will be entering kindergarten in the Springfield School District in Fall, 2026.

    During the KITS program your child will:
    *Learn to make friends and cooperate.
    *Build beginning reading and counting skills

    You will:
    *Learn skills to reduce parenting stress.
    *Learn how to connect with your child’s school.

    KITS will be located at Maple (AM/PM sessions), Mt. Vernon (AM) and Thurston El (PM) elementary schools. This program will run four days a week, Mondays - Thursdays, for two hours per day, from either 9:30-11:30 or 1:00-3:00. KITS will begin Monday, July 6 and runs for 6 weeks. We are not able to provide transportation for this program.

    Interested families are encouraged to register by Friday, May 29th and will be notified of their registration status beginning Monday, June 15th.

    IMPORTANT: Prior to participating in KITS, your child MUST be registered as a Kindergarten student in Springfield. To enroll your child in school please visit: https://www.springfield.k12.or.us/enroll
