Our Financial Commitment is one that should be made after prayerful consideration and reflection. It should be intentional, planned, and proportionate.
Intentional means that our gift to God is well thought out and based on a decision to live the Christian life to the fullest.
Planned means that each household makes its Commitment of Treasure a part of its budget. This commitment should come from the "first fruits," not from what is left over after other needs are ment.
Proportionate means that we make a decision to give a certain percentage of our income to the Church and to other charitable causes.
The Scriptural ideal is the tithe, or 10% of your income. Some people begin at the 10% level; others start at 2% or 3% and then increase their commitment each year as they experience the joy of true sacrificial giving. As a reference figure for your own calculation, determine what just one percent of your income is, and multiply from there.
It has been suggested that half of your overall commitment be reserved for the parish and the work of the local Church; one tenth for the Archdiocesan Annual Appeal and the work of the universal Church; and the remaining four tenths for other charitable giving, such as second collections, capital campaigns, schools, the arts, and civic causes.
We encourage the use of online giving or parish offertory envelopes. They are both helpful reminders of our Stewardship Commitments, they encourage consistency in giving, and they allow the parish to keep an accounting of your contributions for tax and other purposes. You have the option now to indicate whether you would prefer to sign up for Online Giving or receive pre-printed envelopes (To soon be mailed to you on a month basis).
Please contact the parish office 7-10 days after submitting your registration to receive your Envelope Number, which is required for various parish processes (Faith Formation registration, Baptism Registration, etc.).
