    CASE #: 24-0801-EL-BGN ; Grange Solar
Subject: Opposition to the Grange Solar Project

  • Dear Members of the Ohio Power Siting Board,

I am writing to urge you to deny the Grange Solar project in order to protect the tourism industry that is vital to Indian Lake and our local economy. Indian Lake is a popular destination known for its scenic beauty, outdoor recreation, and small businesses that depend on visitors year-round. The construction and permanent installation of an industrial-scale solar facility will negatively impact the very things that draw people to this area.

The disruption caused by years of construction, along with the loss of open landscapes and natural views, will diminish Indian Lake’s appeal to boaters, anglers, campers, and tourists. Many businesses rely on tourism to survive, and a project of this scale threatens to drive visitors elsewhere, resulting in economic harm to our community.

Indian Lake’s future as a thriving tourism destination should not be put at risk for an industrial development that does not benefit local residents. I strongly urge you to reject the Grange Solar project to preserve the beauty, economy, and recreational value of our community.

Furthermore, the Indian Lake region is home to protected wildlife and sensitive ecosystems that would be at risk from the construction and operation of this project. Disturbing these habitats could have long-term consequences for local biodiversity and the health of the environment.

For these reasons, I respectfully request that the Board deny the Grange Solar project to preserve the unique character, wildlife, and economy of our community.

    Sincerely,
