🔻CATALINA QUEER SEA CAMP MAY 2025 🏕
🏝 What: A joyful weekend of queer nature liberation 🐬

🗓 Date: Thursday May 8th @ 1:30pm - Sunday May 11th @ 1:30pm, 2025

🔻Who: Queer nature and ocean lovers, ocean aligned and ocean curious. Non-binary/trans centered. All queer adults welcome! No previous ocean experience needed. 60 participants total.

📍LOCATION: Two Harbors Campground, West End of Catalina Island, Los Angeles County. This trip is not to Avalon, the main town on Catalina. Instead it is on the more secluded, rustic part of the island. This is a location change from the past two years and is a public campground.

🛥Transportation: Catalina Express Boat departing from San Pedro Terminal to Two Harbors. From the boat terminal it is a 0.3 mile walk on a dirt road and path to the campground. There is some elevation gain getting to the campground, and a fairly steep walk down to the campsites. Gear is driven in a truck to the campground, but participants must walk to the campground.

🐠Activities: Snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, hiking, nature walks, workshops, yoga, dance party, variety show, cruising;)
This is not a surf trip and instead an ocean recreation sea camp. Shared activity equipment provided during structured times. If possible we highly encourage you to bring your own gear.

🥑 Food: We will provide healthy plant-based vegetarian meals starting with dinner on Thursday; Brunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday; And breakfast on Sunday.

🏕ACCOMODATIONS: Group camping on the Bluff overlooking the ocean. Participants must bring their own tent, sleeping pad and sleeping bag. If you do not have your own, we will do our best to crowd source and get donations.

🚿Facilities- Chemical toilets, running water and cold showers

💲Cost: Sliding scale $420-$2000. This cost includes the boat, 6 meals, accommodations, shared snorkel and kayak gear and instruction, as well as other programming. Payment plans available.

💸 Scholarships- We have limited scholarships for QTBIPOC and trans folks with financial barriers. Scholarship information, timeline and application found here. Deadline to apply for a scholarship is February 10th.

🦠 Covid-19 Policy and Protocol: All participants must show proof of a negative covid test within 24 hours of boat departure. Screening will be done at the boat terminal. Any participant who tests positive for COVID-19, or has symptoms consistent with COVID-19 infection cannot attend camp. Masks strongly recommended when inside the boat (there is limited outdoor space available on the boat). We support masking outdoors also, and any precautions that help you feel safe. Rapid tests will be available to participants throughout the weekend.
