DSAG Scholarship Application Form

DSAG Post-Secondary Education Scholarships will be awarded annually to an individual with Down syndrome and/or their sibling who lives in the DSAG of ETN service area and is continuing their education at a post-secondary program. Scholarship awards will vary in amount, ranging from $500-$3,210, depending on the number of applicants.

Applications must be submitted online by June 1, 2025.

• Scholarships may be awarded to an individual with Down syndrome or the sibling of an individual with Down syndrome, who is pursuing a post-secondary education.

• Scholarship funds must be used within one (1) year of award and will be paid directly to the institution.

Scholarship Applicant Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicant must be a current DSAG member. Annual dues should be current prior to application submission. Personal connection and/or family involvement in support of DSAG activities or programs is preferred.
- Scholarship amounts are awarded one time only and the scholarship award is not renewable.
- Past scholarship award winners may not re-apply. Past applicants who did not receive a scholarship award are encouraged to re-apply.
- Applications must be submitted by June 1, 2025.
Award Selection and Evaluation:
- Involvement with DSAG and the disability community
- In addition to meeting the basic eligibility qualifications, applicants will be scored on their demonstrated accomplishments, obstacles overcome, leadership, community involvement, and how your experiences with the disability community reflect the mission of DSAG.
Award Payment:
- The scholarship funds awarded are to be used solely to pay for educational expenses.
- All scholarship awards will be paid directly to the institution by DSAG.
- All scholarship funds must be used within one (1) year of award.
- Applications must be submitted by June 1, 2025. Scholarship awards will be announced no later than June 15, 2025.

Note: The information you provide to us will not be sold to any person or company. We may utilize the information, however, to publicize or to report on our scholarship program, or to comply with any legal requirements. Once submitted, your application becomes the property of Down Syndrome Awareness Group of East TN (DSAG).

Before completing the online application, please make sure that you have collected the required information:
- Current high school transcript or proof of GPA
- Current year FAFSA Submission has been completed
- Combinded household income
- Two Letters of Recommendation- submissions must include two letters of recommendation. The letters must be written by a non-relative who knows the applicant well (i.e. teacher, educational assistant, principal, counselor, consultant, social worker, employer, job coach, clergy member, coach, or community member who is not a family member).
Finally, please note the following:
- Applications and supporting documentation are accepted from March 1, 2025 to June 1, 2025. Applications will not be accepted before or after these dates.
- Scholarship winners will be selected and notified by June 15, 2025.
- All applicants will be notified of a decision.
- Not all who apply will receive a scholarship.
- If chosen as a scholarship winner, DSAG may request photos of you on campus to use for social media purposes.
