The Austin AKA Foundation 2026 College Scholarship Application

The Austin AKA Foundation will award (1) *$10,000.00 scholarship and (2) $2500.00 scholarships to high school seniors who are college-bound African-American women. Students must reside in Greater Austin, including Travis, Williamson, Hays, Caldwell, and Bastrop counties. The $10,000.00 scholarship is a recurring $2500.00 for up to four years based upon meeting the scholarship requirements.

Essay

Applicants seeking the Austin AKA Foundation Scholarship must complete this section of the application. Your essay must be at least 500 words. Please select one of the three essay topics and upload your essay to your application. Successful applicants will answer the selected questions directly, thoroughly, and thoughtfully.
1. African American women have historically led efforts advancing education, justice, and community well-being. How has your identity shaped your understanding of leadership, and how do you plan to use your education to continue that legacy in today’s climate?

2. The purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of "Service to All Mankind". How do you embody the purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated?
