IMGA Scholarship Application
The IMGA offers a $500 scholarship to outstanding students who are IMGA members in good standing and actively involved in the goat industry. The purpose of this scholarship is to identify and encourage talented and thoughtful students who will emerge as industry leaders. The number of scholarships awarded will be determined annually by the IMGA Board of Directors’ Youth Committee based on available funds and the number of qualified applicants.
Applications are due March 31st each year and must be submitted using this application process.
Essays will be judged on originality, grammar, clarity of expression, accuracy and relevance of topic. The IMGA Youth Committee’s decisions are final, and IMGA reserves the right to publish all or part of the essay submitted.
The winning applicant(s) may be awarded at their school awards event in April or May and will be recognized again at the IMGA Annual Banquet in December.
Application Requirements:
- Must be a current IMGA member in good standing.
- Must not have received the scholarship in a prior year.
- Must be enrolled as an undergraduate student in a two or four-year institution of higher education for the entire upcoming academic year. Proof of enrollments as a full-time student may be required to receive the scholarship money.
- Write a one-page letter indicating your future college and career goals.
- Write an essay describing an issue confronting the goat industry and offer your solution. (750 words or less)
- Submit a letter of reference from a current or former instructor or industry professional.
- If selected, the scholarship recipient is expected to be present at the IMGA Annual Banquet in December and may be asked to read their essay.
