The Maywood Volunteer Firefighters Inc., is a volunteer organization in town with the mission to protect the lives and property of our community from fires, natural disasters, and hazardous materials incidents. We achieve our mission through the effective and efficient delivery of services while recognizing the significant volunteer contribution of the volunteer firefighters as the main ingredient to our success. Life safety is the highest priority of the Department and is the guiding principal of all actions.
The organization is pleased to offer a $1000 college scholarship opportunity for one graduating senior student to use towards their respective college tuition costs. The Maywood Volunteer Firefighters Memorial Scholarship program is made possible each year through the generous donations of individuals in memory of past firefighters and the years of service they provided to the citizens of Maywood and the Maywood Fire Department. The award recognizes exemplary high school students who also contribute to their community.
Requirements:
- Must be a resident of Maywood
- Must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA through the first semester of your 12th grade year to be eligible. School Transcript must be attached.
- Must have already been accepted or in the process of applying to a 2 or 4 year institution of higher learning
- Must provide three letters of recommendation. Letters from teachers must be on school letterhead with physical signature of teacher
- Must complete the essay requirements as set forth
Application must be submitted no later than April 1st at 8:00 PM. No late applications will be considered.
