  • TALENT INFORMATION

  • For talent rules and regulations, including rules for "partner props", click HERE.

If you will be using a "partner prop", click HERE to view the Partner Prop Agreement.

  • Contestants provide all of their own props, including but not limited to: Instruments, chair, music stand, easle, etc. The Miss Spokane Scholarship Organization will provide a piano for any pianists. All props must be brought to rehearsal #2 and #3 so that the producer may approve them. Any props not brought to and approved at rehearsal may not be used on stage.

  • The Miss Spokane Scholarship Organization will do our best to provide the type of microphone you prefer. However, we are restricted by what the venue is able to provide on the day of the show. If you prefer a lavalier or lapel microphone: as a backup plan, please practice with a handheld microphone either on or off a stand. To note: lavalier microphones typically have a better sound output than lapel microphones. (Reminder: Contestants/parents at not to contact the competition venue at any time - all questions must go through the Miss Spokane Scholarship Organization.)

  • ALL talent performances are required to use a background track, except for instrumentalists (although, it is still highly recommended for instrumentalists to also use a background track). Any instrumentalists not using a background track will be timed and the judges will be informed if a contestant goes over 1.5 minutes. Background tracks must not exceed 1.5 minutes in length. If you are performing a spoken talent (such as Monologue, HERStory, or Comedy) and need help finding an ambient background track, please reach out to the producer prior to the submission deadline for this form. We are more than happy to help you find a background track that works for you! If you need help cutting down a background track, please reach out to the producer at least 3 days prior to the submission deadline for this form.

  • Due to music licensing reasons, the state and national competitions require that all background tracks/songs must be listed on the ASCAP or BMI websites - located HERE or HERE (or copy and paste https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ or https://repertoire.bmi.com/ into your browser). Try by searching just the song title first. If that does not work, try using the other search criteria. If you need help finding your song, please reach out to the producer at least 3 days prior to the submission deadline for this form (the sooner the better, just in case you have to change background tracks). If you are performing to a mix of multiple songs, each song in the mix must be found on the website link above. Please upload a PDF or screenshot of the ASCAP/BMI song listing below.

NOTE: This is a firm rule. No contestant may perform to a song that is not listed on the website.

WARNING: Please do not wait until the last minute to see if your song is available on the ASCAP/BMI website. For fairness, contestants do not receive extensions if they are unable to find their performance song on the website.
