We are updating our discipline policy. As you well know, it is extremely important that we are very consistent with young children, especially in conveying expectations of behavior. Our policy on discipline is as follows: Every student enrolled at HIC is to be free from corporal or unusual punishment, infliction of pain, humiliation, intimidation, ridicule, coercion, threat, mental abuse, or any other actions of a punitive nature. This includes but is not limited to interference with daily life functions, including eating, sleeping, and toileting. We at HIC use the following methods for classroom management and individual behavior: A. Clearly state and restate expectations and appropriate behaviors throughout the day. B. HIC Staff replaces any unwanted behavior with one that is acceptable C. Help our student to feel safe and peaceful so that they can think about the situation using the more highly developed regions of their brain (their frontal lobe)-we teach them to "respond" rather than "react." Reading the above policies, you understand that we at HIC work positively with classroom management and individual behaviors. However, some students have difficulties with aggression (i.e., hitting, biting, and kicking) and following directions. We, therefore, would like you to discuss with your child(ren) that if someone hurts them, they are to immediately inform the teacher, who will help them solve the problem. It is not okay for students enrolled at HIC to hit students/staff this will result in immediate termination. Children may also be terminated following behavioral issues in the classroom; please discuss with your child that this is a very important rule. Please sign this form as your understanding and acceptance of our policy.

I am aware of HIC's policy. I have discussed the policy with my child/children.
