2025-2026 Study Abroad

The RIC World Connection Scholarship is a merit-based award offered through the RIC Study Abroad program in collaboration with the Office of Student Financial Aid.

To be eligible for the RIC World Connection Scholarship, you must:
- Be an American citizen or a Permanent Resident of the United States,
- Be enrolled at Rhode lsland College
- Have a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5,
- Have completed a minimum of three semesters at Rhode lsland College (one semester minimum for transfer students),
- Be in good standing with RlC,
- Register to an approved study abroad degree-seeking program that has at least half-time equivalent enrollment.
Applications for Fall 2025 Study Abroad are due by April 15, 2025.
Applications for Spring 2026 Study Abroad are due by November15, 2025.

Applications must include all required material and be emailed to StudyAbroad@ric.edu.

Any incomplete or late applications will be automatically disqualified. Funds will only be distributed if travel and study abroad programs in the host country are authorized by the US Department of State.

An Essay: This essay must be a two-page typed document (between 500 and 600 words). Clearly label your essay with your full name on each page. Guidelines for the essay: lntroduce yourself. lnclude your personal history and studies at RIC as well as any other institutions you have attended if you are a Transfer Student. Specify if you are part of an underrepresented community (i.e. minorities and/or LGBTQ+ individuals), a first-generation college student and/or if there are any personal, familial or specific circumstances regarding your financial position. Explain the way your experience abroad will fit into your academic and career goals by giving details about the country and the program you chose. Mention why you have come to these decisions, including why you became interested in studying abroad in the first place. What challenges do you think you will face when traveling abroad? Provide examples of how you plan to overcome them.*

Two letters of Recommendation from Rhode lsland College faculty members are required and must be emailed to studyabroad@ric.edu.
