1. I will provide the adopted cat(s) with a lifelong loving home, with proper food, water, and shelter available at all times. I am not adopting the cat(s) as a gift for someone else.
2. I agree to keep the cat(s) in my home at all times and not transfer the cat(s) to any other party. The cat(s) will be held securely indoors, with screens in my windows that are never opened (either top or bottom) and without access to backyards, balconies, terraces, fire escapes, rooftops, or public hallways.
3. I understand that the cat(s) may take a period of time to adjust to new surroundings. I will notify The Animal Project of any adjustment difficulties and ask for assistance if there are any problems.
4. I will not abandon or give up the cat(s) to anyone, including any shelter or laboratory. If I am unable to keep the cat(s) for any reason, I will notify The Animal Project, making every effort to keep the cat(s) for a reasonable amount of time until The Animal Project finds the cat(s) a new home or foster care.
5. I will provide the cat(s) with all necessary medical care, including check-ups and veterinary care for unusual symptoms such as (but not limited to) sneezing, coughing, runny eye discharge, weight loss, hair loss, scratching, vomiting, lethargy, diarrhea, loss of appetite, blood in the stool, straining in the litter pan, urinating outside the litter box, etc.

7. I will not permit the adopted cat(s) to reproduce.
8. I will spay (females) and neuter (males) any adopted cat(s) by 5-6 months of age.
9. If the cat(s) is (are) lost, I will make every effort to recover the cat(s), notifying The Animal Project, the Animal Care Center of NYC, Petfinder, Petwatch, local veterinarians, local cat rescue groups, and by using social media and posting signs.
10. To the best of my ability, I will provide for the future security of cat companion(s) by informing those closest to me of the presence of the cat(s) in my home and of the fact that The Animal Project should be contacted immediately in the event of any emergency that makes it impossible for me to keep or provide for the cat(s)
11. I will make arrangements for cat care when I go away on vacation or business.
12. The Animal Project will not be held liable for any medical costs after adoption, nor any damage or injury to person, property, or any other animals that may be caused by the adopted cat(s)
13. The Animal Project reserves the right to follow up on the care and security of any adopted animal if they believe that there is cause for concern with regard to the animal's well-being, and I agree to work with The Animal Project representatives to establish the animal's health and safety to their satisfaction. I understand that failure to abide by the commitments made under this agreement, or any other mistreatment of the adopted cat(s), shall constitute a violation of this contract and the cat(s) shall be returned to The Animal Project upon demand.
