    Game Formats & Durations:
    U9-U17 Teams play 7v7 on our 30 x 70 yard indoor pitch.
Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 3 games, 25 minutes each half time. Retreat Line applies to U12 and under with NO OFF-SIDES
A round robin format will be followed. All teams must be ready to kick-off within five minutes of the scheduled time of a scheduled match. If for some reason teams are not ready to play 5 minutes after official game time, it will be a forfeit. Unlimited substitutions at the discretion of the referee. Referees may shorten matches to ensure they end on time at their discretion. Gold medal matches ending in a tie will be decided by a shoot out immediately following regulation time (the tight schedule prohibits the availability of extra time). Shoot out winner will be decided by best out of three, followed by sudden death. FIFA laws of the game apply.

Awards: in U14 to U17 divisions, first and second place finishers in each group will receive awards. The coaching staff of each team is asked to present one MVP prize per game to a player on the opposing team who they consider to be the most valuable player of each game. Participation medals will be given out to all U14 - U17 teams who did not place.

Medal Presentations: All medal presentations will take place inside QYSA on the turf after the final games on Sunday. More details regarding time(s) for medal presentations will be available once the schedule has been finalized.

Standings: The results of the matches will be recorded and tabulated, and available to view on the TV screen in the foyer, by the field house entrance. In accordance with directives from the BC Soccer Association, no standings will be kept and no awards presented for age groups U13 and under.

First Aid: The reception counter will be able to notify first aid, as well as provide ice packs and bandages as needed.

    Scoring (U14-U17 Divisions):
    3 points for a win
    1 point for a tie
    0 points for a loss
A "no-show" or forfeit will result in the opponents being awarded 3 points for a default win, scored at 3-0.

Tie Breaking Procedure: In the event that there is a tie on points after round robin play, the following tie-breaking procedures will be used to determine a) the winner of the group where no championship game takes place and b) team placement for the final round of games where a championship or consolation games occur. If two teams are tied on all three tie-breaking criteria, a coin toss will be conducted to determine placing for the final round of play.
    1) Results against each other
     2) Total goals against
     3) Total goals for
     4) Coin toss

Uniforms: In the event that there's a color clash, the first-named team on the schedule is designated “home team” and is obliged to change shirts. It's recommended that if a team only carries one jersey, the team bring pinnies in the event of a colour clash.

General Laws: Normal FIFA Laws will be applied in the tournament, with the following deviations: there will be unlimited substitutions, but only at a stoppage in play and with the refereeʼs consent. Due to our unique indoor facility, any ball that comes in contact with the roof structure will be considered out of play, and an indirect free kick will be awarded to the non-offending team. The QYSA adheres to FAIR PLAY codes and encourages all teams to play within the spirit and Laws of the Game. Team lists are not required for each individual game. Players who are suspended (either as a result of an automatic suspension or result of a tournament organizing committee suspension) are not eligible to participate. Any player under suspension from their parent association at the time of the QYSA Gold Pan Tournament is not eligible to participate. Spectators are asked to keep away from the goal area to avoid distraction of the players (balcony may be used).

Foul Play: Players or team officials receiving two yellow cards in one game must serve an automatic one-game suspension in their next scheduled game in the tournament. Players accumulating 3 yellow cards in total are automatically suspended from their next game. In the event that a player or team official is dismissed from a game (red carded), that individual must leave the vicinity of the playing field. Players receiving a red card (ejection from game) must serve an automatic one-game suspension. In the event that a player or team official receives more than one red card or is ejected more than once during the tournament, the QYSA organizing committee shall convene to determine an appropriate course of action/penalty. Referees are obliged to report all yellow and red card incidents.
All disciplinary reports will be forwarded to the teamʼs/playerʼs parent association.

Protest:  Only protests regarding non-referee decisions will be permitted.  All protests will only be entertained if received, in writing, within one hour after the completion of the game in question. A $250.00 fee, payable in cash, must accompany all protests and be hand delivered to the QYSA Office. The protest shall be signed by the team coach or manager. Protests and fees can be delivered to the QYSA front office. The protest fee will be fully refunded if the protest in question is deemed valid.
The objective of this tournament is for players to have fun and enjoy playing the great game of soccer. While there is a competitive edge to any tournament, this is NOT LIFE OR DEATH competition and should not be treated as such.

Coach Policy: All coaching must be conducted from within the designated areas. Please coach within the spirit of the game with respect for your opponents, the referees and your fellow coaches. The tournament organizers require teams to be located on the same side of the field with spectators on the opposite side.
