Murder Creek Media is an investigative media organization dedicated to uncovering the truth in criminal cases, examining claims of wrongful conviction, and bringing transparency to issues within the justice system. Our work is guided by a clear mission: to pursue truth through responsible investigation and to give a voice to those seeking justice. We take that mission seriously and will not stray from it.

The research conducted by our team can have real-world consequences. Information developed through our investigations may be used in criminal cases, legal proceedings, advocacy efforts, and public record disclosures. Because of this, the accuracy, integrity, and security of our work are critical.

Volunteering with Murder Creek Media is not the same as casually following true crime online. The cases we examine involve real victims, real families, and real people whose lives are directly affected by investigative work. Our team handles sensitive materials, including internal research, case files, witness information, and investigative strategy that may not be publicly available.

Because of the nature of this work, all applicants are thoroughly vetted before being accepted onto the team. This application must be completed in full and may take time to finish. Applicants will be required to provide personal, verifiable information, which may include the submission of a valid government-issued ID, as part of the vetting process. Additional screening steps may occur before any volunteer is granted access to internal systems, communications, or case materials.

We take confidentiality extremely seriously. Volunteers may encounter information connected to ongoing investigations, legal matters, witnesses, victims, and families. This information is not for public discussion, speculation, or personal use under any circumstances.

Volunteers who are accepted onto the team will be required to sign confidentiality and volunteer agreements governing the handling of sensitive information. Any violation of these agreements, including the unauthorized sharing or misuse of investigative materials, will result in immediate removal from the team and may subject the individual to legal action.

If you are looking to participate out of curiosity, entertainment, or because of an interest in true crime as a hobby, this is not the right environment for you. Our work is investigative, methodical, and often emotionally difficult.

Please complete this application thoughtfully and honestly. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Submission of this form does not guarantee acceptance into the volunteer program, and Murder Creek Media reserves the right to deny any application at its discretion.

Background Disclosure

Because volunteers at Murder Creek Media may have access to sensitive investigative materials and internal research, applicants are required to disclose certain background information as part of the vetting process. This information is used solely for the purpose of evaluating volunteer applications and protecting the integrity of our work, the individuals connected to the cases we examine, and the security of internal information.

Murder Creek Media reserves the right to review publicly available information when evaluating volunteer applicants.

• Murder Creek Media conducts investigative research and reporting involving real criminal cases, wrongful convictions, and issues within the justice system. You understand that the work performed by the organization may involve sensitive information connected to victims, families, witnesses, legal matters, and ongoing investigations.

• As part of the volunteer vetting process, Murder Creek Media may review publicly available information, including social media profiles or other public records, when evaluating volunteer applicants.

• Submission of this application does not guarantee acceptance into the volunteer program. Murder Creek Media reserves the right to accept or decline any applicant at its sole discretion.

• If selected as a volunteer, you will be required to sign a Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement and comply with all policies governing the handling of confidential or sensitive investigative materials before being granted access to internal systems, research materials, or case-related information.

• You understand that volunteers may encounter confidential information, including investigative materials, witness information, internal communications, and case-related research that has not been made public.

• You agree that any such information must be handled with the highest level of discretion and may not be disclosed, discussed, shared, copied, or used for any personal purpose outside the scope of authorized work for Murder Creek Media.

• You understand that volunteers are prohibited from independently contacting victims, witnesses, suspects, attorneys, law enforcement officers, or any other individuals connected to a case being reviewed by Murder Creek Media without prior authorization.

• You acknowledge that unauthorized disclosure, misuse, or distribution of confidential information may cause serious harm to individuals connected to the cases being investigated, may interfere with legal matters, and may expose you to removal from the volunteer program and potential legal action.

• You understand that volunteering with Murder Creek Media requires professionalism, discretion, and respect for the individuals affected by the cases being examined.
