Applicants through the National Examining Board (NEB) must meet language proficiency requirements. Applicants may either meet the NEB language proficiency requirements or the MVMA language proficiency requirements. In addition to the language proficiency requirements set by the NEB, the MVMA accepts the following:
- The Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) General Test
- The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) General Test
- The Test de connaissance du francais (TCF Canada)
- The Candidate has obtained a passing score on the Test d’evaluation de francais (TEF Canada)
- The “One Skill Retake” offered by IELTS
- The “MyBest scores” offered by Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

If you meet the NEB language proficiency requirements, you must submit your evidence of same directly to the NEB.
If you meet MVMA language proficiency requirements, please complete the Language Proficiency Exemption Application below.
Please note that language test results must be sent to the MVMA directly from the Language Proficiency testing company.
If you successfully demonstrate that you meet the MVMA language proficiency requirements, the MVMA will send a letter confirming same to the NEB.
