  • Purpose:

    The Norma Roy Scholarship Fund will award an Academic Scholarship to one selected graduating senior from either Avoyelles High School, Marksville High School, Bunkie High School, Avoyelles Public Charter School, LASAS or St. Joseph's High School who is pursuing a degree in any avenue of the fine arts, including but not limited to, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Graphic Arts, Photography, Art Education, Art History, Music, Animation, Architecture, Interior Design, curriculums. The award is $1,000 on a onetime basis. Procedure:Students must complete the application accompanied by a 200-word essay to theselection committee. The principal/counselor and student must complete appropriateforms. Applicants will be disqualified if any part/section of the application is notcomplete or if incorrect information is given.

  • Criteria

    (20 Points) ACT Score/Student's Curriculum/GPA (Grade 9 through midterm of the senior year based on a 4.0 scale and, if applicable, a 5.0 scale)

    (20 Points) Extracurricular Activities (Including emphasis on visual arts/performing arts)

    (10 Points) Work Activities 

    (15 Points) Student's Essay 

    (10 Points) Volunteer Work/Service Work

    (25 Points) Interview

  • Judges

    Judges will consist of the President of the Avoyelles Arts Council Scholarship Committeeand members of the Avoyelles Arts Council and Norma Roy Family serving on thecommittee, appointed by the President. Applicants will be contacted for an Interview date and time.

    Parts I, II and III of this form are to be completed by the applicant's principal or
    counselor. Parts IV, V and VI are to be completed by the applicant.


    I. College entrance examination score (ACT)
    A copy of the ACT score sheet must be attached.


    II. Student's cumulative high school grade point average (GPA)
    Excluding spring semester of senior year based on 4.0 scale
    and, if applicable, a 5.0 scale.


    III. Please attach a certified transcript excluding spring semester of the senior year.
