About The Krenov Foundation
The mission of The Krenov Foundation is to promote and encourage excellence in woodworking, as exemplified by the work and writings of James Krenov. Through programs such as The Krenov Archive, scholarships for The Krenov School, and support for exhibitions, we seek to share Krenov’s vision and to nurture a diverse, inclusive and thriving community of craftspeople.
About The Awards
Three scholarships of up to $3000 each are available to attend summer workshops at The Krenov School. This includes "Tools and Techniques" (WOD-70A Introduction to Woodworking) from June 9-27, 2025. More information can be found on The Krenov School Summer Workshops web page.
Who Can Apply?
These scholarships aim to make The Krenov School’s Summer Workshops accessible to those who may not otherwise be able to participate without financial assistance. One scholarship is available to any student. Two scholarships are reserved for people of color who have been historically underrepresented at The Krenov School. This includes those who are:
- Black / African / African American
- Native American / Indigenous
- Latino/Latina/Latinx / Hispanic
- Pacific Islander
- South Asian / East Asian / Southeast Asian
- Southwest Asian / North African
How to Apply
Applications accepted until March 31, 2025.
Scholarships will be announced by April 7, 2025.
Once the scholarships have been awarded, awardees must register in the summer class independently and promptly when priority registration opens on April 17th, 2025. Please visit The Krenov School Summer Workshop Registration page for detailed information about registering. Because of The Krenov School’s unique structure under the umbrella of the Mendocino Community College system, registration is on a first-come first-serve basis. The Krenov Foundation Scholarship does not ensure a place in the summer class. If you miss the registration window, the scholarship will be awarded to the next qualified applicant registered in the class.
