Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the BC Regional Jigsaw Puzzle Competition. If you have any questions about this form, or about volunteering in general, please email us at canadianjpa@gmail.com.
Our event is taking place on May 24th in Burnaby BC.
Welcome Team / Raffle Table: Participants will be arriving throughout the day to register depending on when their first competition takes place. We will need volunteers to welcome participants just outside of the hall and to help direct them to their tables.
This task is good for volunteers who:
- prefer shorter shifts. Shifts are approximately 30-45 minutes.
- prefer having the ability to sit.
- are competing but finish fairly fast, so they can make it out to the main hall before the next event participants arrive.
- would enjoy selling tickets for our raffle items
Spotters: During the competition we need spotters who will circulate the competition area and when participants are close to finishing, they will hover nearby and record the finishing times. The time cards are then returned promptly to our score keeper. This task is good for volunteers who:
- are comfortable standing and walking. There will be opportunities to sit but regular circulation of the competition area is needed.
- are able to work up to 3 hours consecutively. Short breaks are possible.
- want a front-row view with direct access to the competition area.
- are competing but are willing to help out in rounds that they are not participants in.
Data Input: The CJPA inputs finishing times into a Google Spreadsheet & Document which is then published to our website. We endeavour to have the results live ASAP and ongoing throughout the event. We require someone who is not competing to assist us with this task This task is good for a volunteer who:
- is comfortable using a computer and spreadsheets
- is detail oriented, as attention to detail is essential
- prefers a sitting position
- is available for the entire duration of the event
- bonus if they are able to bring a laptop of their own which they can use and connect to wifi (we will be able to share the needed documents)
Local Errands: The CJPA provides, snacks, drinks and lunch for our volunteers. We are looking for someone who may be able to run a few local errrands (ideally picking up pre-ordered breakfast items/coffee and/or lunch). This task is good for a volunteer who:
- has access to a vehicle and is comfortable driving up to 15 minutes from the venue.
- may be able to help with pre-purchasing and delivering of drinks, paper plates, utensils etc (will be fully reimbursed)
- can be competing at the event, please just let us know below so that we can arrange pickup times around your competition rounds.
